Some dresses are short or with cut outs but you can find appropriate dresses here.

Creepy religious tradwife vibes at that store.

So you think Christian = “creepy” and “tradwife”? That is offensive.

It’s definitely gives southern “hot girl Christian” vibes.
It’s like the Bama, Baylor, TCU, LSU of clothing stores.

Which is neither “creepy” nor “tradwife.”

Well I’ll side with you that just because it’s not someone’s thing doesn’t make it inherently “creepy” —but yes it definitely is tradwife as far as the entire store tends to embrace a traditionally conservative Christian Biblical aesthetic that would be a commonality among those who are on the tradwife trajectory.
Correlation is not causation. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t give off that vibe to some people.

Probably because we in our late 40s and early 50s aren’t sure what stores are “ours” and when to make the transition?

Talbots and Chicos and Coldwater Creek and Ann Taylor are definitely my mom’s stores.
But they were “her stores” 30 years ago too.

I know Altard State and AE and Urban outfitters aren’t for me.

But what is? JCrew? Express?
Or is it Madewell and Banana Republic?
Dillards? Macys? Bloomies? Nordstrom?

Help!!

It looks like of the old Victoria’s Secret catalogs from the 90s to me.

Are these considered appropriate for events other than date nights now?

The issue isn’t exactly the dresses.
It’s the styling of the model in what appears to be the equivalent of a push-up water bra from the 90s.
Seriously. Her girls are practically spilling over the top and she’s wearing a size too tight in every shot.
I bet you can order one of those in an appropriate size and your daughter could pull it off in a much less revealing way.

Thank you for this. She’s a high school senior, so just 18.

And I’m trying to be really hard not to be the overly prudish mom.

I really like the pick 1 boundary suggestion.

Sexualized metaphor. And has been for a very long time, at least in Gen X world.

See Breakfast Club movie for reference. Claire is a 🍒

So cherry prints are off limits once you’ve lost your virginity? I doubt young women want to invite speculation on the status of their virginity, so why would this dress be recommended for them?

Omg, that link has something for everyone! They’ve got you covered (mostly 😉), whether you’re cosplaying as:

Naughty nurse
Hot milkmaid
Lusty bride
Marilyn Monroe, about to step on a subway grate
Kardashian

Or you’ve just always wanted to wear lingerie out of the house!

You cannot be serious. What must life be like for you, always seeing something nefarious when there is nothing of the sort going on. Here’s a skirt from those misogynists at Boden, with not only lemons, but also the scandalous cherries!!

And a dress!

Francesca’s too - those sexist creeps!

Et tu, Old Navy?

Aqua and BCBG dresses are made for teens. I like Nodstrom for their larger choices. AllSaints has pretty flowy dresses, Farm Rio had pretty patterns. Neither of these brands make cheap looking tight dresses.

Among my friends, it's pretty much your "what is" list.
