You're ignorant. NIOSH tests masks for firefighters, too. Maybe learn the extent of what they do and educate yourself. |
People with resources will go and get what they need as they have always done and others get left behind. That is the way Maga wants it for some reason. |
They won’t be made right if they are still made. Companies take cost cutting short cuts at the expense of people. Are you new here or something? |
You mean people in other countries don't care about quality? They seem to care a lot more about food quality. |
You think that reputable companies with a stake in the market serving professional users will just start making crap products now because no one is watching? And jeopardize a reputation they’ve spent decades cultivating? You think 3M or Abott Labs is just going to toss standards out the window and say “F’ it!” ? Maybe YOU’RE the new one. Are you a paid troll? Do you work in a troll farm in China or Russia? |
I'm a DP. No, I do not think companies will maintain regulatory standards. They do not care about anything beyond making a buck. |
Kind of odd that the FDA and CDC list "Surgical N95 Respirators" then, isn't it? https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/n95-respirators-surgical-masks-face-masks-and-barrier-face-coverings https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/topics/respirators/disp_part/respsource3healthcare.html https://blogs.cdc.gov/niosh-science-blog/2021/09/09/respirator_roles/ It depends on the surgery, PP. |

Doctors and nurse have always in recent memory worn N95s when treating people with suspected or confirmed cases of varicella (chickenpox), tuberculosis (TB), meningococcal disease, measles, and others. Worldwide, there are additional infections like ebola that require N95 protection for the healthcare provider, and with international travel what it is, they are donned when there are suspected cases of rare disorders (or if there is some severe but as yet unidentified illness to treat). Surgeons wear N95s during surgery when there is going to be expected significant surgical smoke or plumes, such as cutting through a lot of bone tissue (or, of course, if the patient is afflicted with the above microorganisms). |
Of note, this is not just about quality of masks like that protect healthcare workers or firefighters, but also other PPE such as ensuring gowns are properly vetted as protecting from chemical splash. I work in healthcare and my brother is a firefighter. I do want my tax dollars paying for third party quality testing. Company self reporting of it's own quality is obviously going to be flawed. This should not be debatable. |
Here is info about how to campaign against this: https://ohsonline.com/articles/2025/04/17/aiha-urges-response-to-niosh-layoffs.aspx |
X1000 they literally won’t care. Also, Trump has said he’s rolling back enforcement, and people won’t have the time and $$ to sue. The company will bankrupt them. A friend of mine got screwed by WAWA because she tried to register a name that had a WA sound in it for a product they would never sell in a million years. They basically said thru the lawyer they would bankrupt her. Little people don’t win. Ever. |
Go away MAGA. Stop telling people they are being dramatic. you are not being dramatic enough. Enjoy your authoritarian government. |
+1 Thank you. That made me laugh so hard. |
