Schools for SSFS families

Adding Stone Ridge - they have a waiver code for Sandy Springs families for the application fee and were very compassionate when I called.

Stone Ridge - Bethesda, PK - Grade 12 (all girls)

Listen, people do all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons. This is a wild time, where hundreds of children need a seat at a new school.

A wider net is wise in this case.

And, many schools in the DC area run shuttle services into Montgomery County.

Barrie parent here. The school is right down the street from SSFS and has a smaller but similarly rural campus. It also shares many of the same values and I know for sure that there is space in the high school. Students regularly transfer in during high school and thrive. I couldn't recommend it more strongly. My child said there is an even on campus Friday to talk to SSFS families. I would check the website to verify that they got that detail right.

Burke is near the metro which makes it super easy. Schools like Barrie offer busses and a shuttle from the metro (Glenmont).

Great addition! I would add Sienna to this as well. We know a couple of kids who have just thrived there. It is near the beltway in Silver Spring.

They are likely full but I added Good Counsel.
Before you protest, every year SSFS 8th graders apply to GC because it better matches their needs for high school. This was the case for my daughter and her SSFS classmates and they were very happy.

Good suggestion - we have friends whose kids go to LAB and they are very happy - bothe kids have mild learning challenges. The live up in MoCo and there are shuttles the school runs through Bethesda. I also know a family whose son left SSFS in lower school to go to LAB and that worked out well for them.

Not sure what you’re basing this on, but Lowell is known for being community-centered and supportive. Parents routinely say that their kids are really seen and known by their teachers. Seems perfect for kids in this situation.

Glen elg country school is a good school a lot Montgomery county families make the trip.

River is a great school. They only serve students through 5th grade and are moving to a new campus in the near future. They might be expanding to include a middle school?

Near future? Does that mean they’ve been approved to build?

Does anyone know anything about how welcoming and accommodating Glenelg is of gender-nonconforming and trans kids?
