Why do I keep getting UTIs?

Anonymous
OP again. I am definitely going to try the estrogen cream (although the idea of being drippy on purpose is not appealing - anyone able to reassure me it's not this?), and maybe D Manuse (need to do some research first)

Not on any other meds, so not a side affect, also allergic to penicillin and sulfa (used to give me microdantin, but this time it was cipro).

Use Dove unscented soap, and ALL fragrance free laundry detergent;

As for gluten, I'm already 97% carb free, so it's not that. If I'm eating carbs, it's a sweet potato, quinoa, or air popped popcorn, definitely nothing with gluten.

And no back door play, ever, because I'm so UTI sensitive

I use unscented Dove. No baths no hot tubs. Even stopped swimming pools.
No sex.
Glad to hear estrogen works overvtime.
BTW it's not drippy. You only use 1 gram of cream and that's not a lot and it's thick.

np here. In case it's the soap, I only use White Dial soap. Travel with it. I never use anything else, no body wash products.

Just FYI on the sulfa and penicillin allergies. Turns out most people who have been told they are allergic to penicillin actually aren’t, either because they grew out of it or never were in the first place. I went to an allergist and they tested me and I’m no longer allergic. The sulfa allergy is harder to rule out—they told me I’d have to do a trial in a hospital if needed, but the penicillin allergy they can test in office.

Try avoiding lots of coffee. Generally, analyze your diet and drink lots of water. That was my savior. Plus d-mannose and cranberry supplements, now from time to time as I feel so much better. Again, you are not alone. It happens.

Do you have an IUD? Years ago, I was affected by recurrent UTIs for months and months. Tried all kinds of remedies, probiotics, etc. but nothing worked. It would drive me to tears. Finally, my OB-GYN suggested that he remove my IUD. Apparently, some kind of bacteria or germs can somehow live on the IUD's string and persist there. This did not show up on any lab tests, it was just a guess by my doctor. Got it removed, replaced a few months later. Have not had a single UTI since then. This was 10 years ago.

^This is the PP who posted about the IUD. I'm sorry, I just realized that I confused UTIs with yeast infections. It was recurrent yeast infections that were cured by replacing my IUD. Ugh, so sorry for the confusion. (But if anyone reading has persistent unexplained yeast infections, do take note!).

Dr Mary Clare Haver says vaginal estrogen prevents UTIs.

This worked like a charm for my ex starting 15 years ago. Now we’re divorced, but zero UTIs.
