GA announcements seem to be happening on a rolling basis. It might be another week or two.

And we are sure its GA ?

They have ECNL boys, why would they apply to GA?

This makes the most sense, but folks have been speculating ... ECNL would be the logical move

Aren’t they already joining the new Chesapeake league? I guess theoretically it’s “higher” than edp 1 or 2.

No, the Chesapeake League will be weaker than EDP 1 or 2. Most likely will be some of the 2nd teams but they will not have a team at each age group.

Chesapeake will not be looked upon as a higher level than high EDP I don’t think? Also as PP Potomac does not currently have too many high level teams in their Girls. Anything they get above EDP will be a great addition for them to use in growth. They seem to be going about business in a good direction.

They specifically stated that this is not Chesapeake... and you are correct, this definitely seems like they are trying to improve. Also, seems like they are being much more open about intentions/etc lately too.

Will they announce this new higher level before or after tryouts?

Thats the interesting thing... this year Potomac does not have tryouts for their current players, just new ones... not sure if they even announced their tryouts yet.

If it’s GA and follows ASA model then yes it come in June but if it’s ECNL it will be announced very soon

The League they are joining has not released them to run an announcement. Tryouts and coaches for the girls side will be posted once that announcement is released.

For the Boys, current player's will not tryout.
For the Girls, that has not be identified as the route forward.

Tryouts are typically around the end of the April/beginning of May. New platform may dictate earlier but they would need to get the info out to the people.

They are hoping for RL with a chance to get to ECNL but will likely get Aspire imo.

Aspire 80%
RL 7%
ECNL 1%
ECNL RL 12%
Buying a new sweatshirt and/or hat 100%

Fixed for you---

Aspire 87%
GA 1%
ECNL 0%
ECNL RL 12%
Buying a new sweatshirt and/or hat 100%

But if it’s GA-Aspire, who would they play? They can’t play VA teams due to HS seasons, and there’s not enough DC/MD GA teams out to form a division.

I’m just so sick of these alphabet leagues. Just have one tiered pyramid with pro-rel. Plenty of money to be paid to clubs, the greedy league administrators are the problem here.

I think club soccer is going to become more tournament based and less regular season play. That way they can grab even more money from parents and claim it is because the want inter-league play.

Potomac 2013 finished first in EDP 2.

Older teams not as good. But something to work with if they can keep the younger girls in the club.

Ok, but that 2010 team lost 9-0 to the top club in the bracket. If that is the strongest team they have… barely competitive.

Based on their other scores that seems like an outlier so I’m assuming they were short a goalie or some other key players. Again not world beaters but certainly competitive and if they were to join a more prestigious league they would attract more talent. Not every can be the best team but there is enough talent around that the 2nd best team in Montgomery county can be very good.

Get it and lose it, then get it and probably lose it again?
