I honestly don't know how you don't see that the US on the path to full authoritarianism. They are detaining people with tourist visas for days and not giving a reason. Sending individuals with no criminal records, no evidence of crimes, in compliance with asylum processes, to a prison in El Salvador. In fact I think that conflation is absolutely insane, and those that are hyperventilating about recording the basic fact of birth sex on a legal document come across as extremely entitled and spoiled.

That's because you either:
1. Haven't cared to read about how those requirements are impacting trans and intersex people in real ways, including some who just aren't getting their passports and therefore can't travel
And/or
