It sounds like Trudeau was right, Trump is serious about invading Canada

It will be an economic annexation.

Trump is an idiot, and he likes to apply his Queens real estate tactics to everything. That means saying outrageous things, to get his negotiating adversary to blink in order to stave off an imaginary catastrophe.

The smart thing to do is ignore him, and not give an inch.

Tariffs are another deal - I’m sure he’s serious about those. A Canadian boycott makes sense to wield economic pressure, but honestly it has to be pretty targeted to have an impact on the massive US economy.

If there’s someone like the AMA person who can give reasons why we shouldn’t take Trump seriously about this, I welcome reasons not to be so scared.

But, maybe to his credit, in a unpleasant way, Trump usually seems to try to act on his proposals. He may have terrible proposals, but he’s pretty open about what he’s doing. I think it’s a mistake to assume that he won’t try to move ahead with this.

Taking over Canada as the 51st state? How would he do that? He simply isn't going to invade a massive country to our north, causing tens or hundreds of thousands of US casualties, and completely wrecking the US economy. And unless he has internal support within Canada he can't do it via negotiation or plebiscite.

Trump is simply saying ridiculous crap to get Canada to cave on other issues - tighter border restrictions, fewer trade deals with China, access to Arctic ocean ports and transit routes, etc. It's a terrible negotiating tactic because its so absurd as to be ineffective. All Trudeau has to do is laugh it off as the ravings of a three year old, and the problem goes away.

I saw her say it and thought it was a good joke. Sadly, the left has zero sense of humor and they think Trump is actually planning on invading Canada. I should't be surprised, but I am.

I’m loving this, because the entire was seeing a rightward shift.
And that is now about to end.
Love that.

I politely laugh when my 5 year old tells me “funny joke”, but when he keeps repeating it hoping for the same response, I kindly tell him it stops being funny after the first telling.
He isn’t ready to be the press sec either.

Russia and China would like nothing better than to destabilize what has been so far a very peaceful North America.

That's what this crap is about.

No, no, make no mistake, he is serious about this.

He is following Putin’s playbook:
- grab power
- put your friends in all important government positions
- amend the constitution to be re-elected (working on 3rd term)
- get rid of independent media (watch for that next)
- invade neighbouring sovereign countries

The Canadian prime minister is telling Canadians to take Trump both literally and seriously, and to prepare for a potential conflict. But I'm sure you know better, random message board commenter.

Why? Russia invaded Crimea and Ukraine. Rational people don’t find the language that the President and his team are using funny.

Trump is a Russian agent. Isn’t it obvious? Everything he does benefits Russia.

In 2017 there were many conversations about Putin having komporomat on him. Remember M6 agent saying Kremlin had a dossier on him and they were propping him up for election for five years?

Around that time there was election integrity investigation. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I don't want Trump to violate Canada's sovereignty. But I would definitely enjoy the change in politics that would result.

See that's why people who think this way are stupid.

If Trump takes you, you will be nothing but fodder to him. What makes you think he's coming to make your life better? just like those fools waiting for cheaper eggs.

Meanwhile I’m sure Canadians would be thrilled to lose their healthcare to become a US state, soon to be part of the axis powers
