Bolded 100%.. I’m sorry that for the first time in.. jeeze.. 50+ years(?) the federal bureaucracy and the “non-profot” raacket is being disrupted. Horrible timing if you work in this cartel currently… but a plurality of the country is tired of funding “non-profits” and “aid”. It has literally become a racket.

And spare me the “wELl SoFt PoWErOtHEr WIsE CHinA wILL tAKE OvEr”

Gurl, China was already funding all sorts of stuff as “aid” except they were smart enough to do this as predatory laons where when the third world countries inevitably default China will be able to create a modern silk-road.

While we in the U.S. have just done so much to earn “good will” with nothing on paper that we get in return..

Oh but the hundreds of NGOs and contractors the fed has funded, they’ve been VERRRRRRY happy until now.

This.

More people on here will understand when at least 25% of jobs are cut but the government is functioning in the same manner.

Which struggled with understaffing as it was. But hey, MAGA. So much for caring about Veterans.

LOL. The federal workforce costs $100B annually. USAID's annual budget is $40B. Our annual budget deficit is $1.8 TRILLION. We aren't in this position because Feds, NGOs, and contractors are getting fat. We're in this position because Americans are allergic to taxes and Republicans have successfully sold the lie that cutting them will unleash widespread prosperity that will actually increase tax receipts.

Next time just post "I'm mathematically illiterate," it'll save yourself, and everyone else, a lot of time.

Just after we are hit with historically high residential property assessments from Maryland in MoCo, the bottom looks to drop out of the market.

+1. And right now, as the media fixates on federal employee firings, Republicans are hard at work trying to pass a budget that will give tax cuts to billionaires, and those tax cuts far exceed any savings from firing federal employees. The debt will grow as a result of those tax cuts.

Are you not able to understand that $100 billion is a lot of money? You may think it’s a drop in the bucket, and yes it’s a single digit in terms of % of the budget, but it still is $109 billion.

Responding with “LOL” about spending $100 billion is exactly why Trump won.

No it's not. $100B for a $20+T economy is nothing. The US spent over $2T on figther planes alone. I other words, 20 years worth of federal worker salaries were spent on planes to blow up the rest of the world. Workers who spend money at the local economies you live in, who pay rent in apartments you are landlords over, and workers who invest in businesses in the US.

In a country with around 350 million people, with a federal budget of $6.75 trillion, yes, $100 billion is quite literally a drop in the bucket. No amount of "waste" and "fraud" that DOGE finds will make an impact on the federal budget.

I'm sorry that you're unable to contextualize large numbers. I'll try to put it in terms you might understand: this is like thinking that finding a few nickels underneath your couch cushions will help you pay off your mortgage. It won't make one iota of difference.

Hope that helps. And don't worry, I won't laugh at you -- it's impolite to laugh at imbeciles.

This has always been the genius of Republicans. They fixate on these hot button issues (transgender people, "lazy" federal employees, immigrants stealing "your" jobs, etc.) and then they give tax cuts to billionaires. Works every time.
