Effect of federal government reductions in MoCo

Anonymous
the entire argument that we need to lay off feds to save money falls apart in the face of republicans' efforts to increase the deficit by $4 trillion dollars.

You can't both say you care about some sort of balanced budget while also promoting massive tax cuts that are far greater than proposed cuts in spending.

people in many parts of the country don't seem to be disturbed by it, yet. what's going to happen to those high $ condos they decided was a good idea in MoCo?

Bolded 100%.. I’m sorry that for the first time in.. jeeze.. 50+ years(?) the federal bureaucracy and the “non-profot” raacket is being disrupted. Horrible timing if you work in this cartel currently… but a plurality of the country is tired of funding “non-profits” and “aid”. It has literally become a racket.

And spare me the “wELl SoFt PoWErOtHEr WIsE CHinA wILL tAKE OvEr”

Gurl, China was already funding all sorts of stuff as “aid” except they were smart enough to do this as predatory laons where when the third world countries inevitably default China will be able to create a modern silk-road.

While we in the U.S. have just done so much to earn “good will” with nothing on paper that we get in return..

Oh but the hundreds of NGOs and contractors the fed has funded, they’ve been VERRRRRRY happy until now.

LOL. The federal workforce costs $100B annually. USAID's annual budget is $40B. Our annual budget deficit is $1.8 TRILLION. We aren't in this position because Feds, NGOs, and contractors are getting fat. We're in this position because Americans are allergic to taxes and Republicans have successfully sold the lie that cutting them will unleash widespread prosperity that will actually increase tax receipts.

Next time just post "I'm mathematically illiterate," it'll save yourself, and everyone else, a lot of time.

Are you not able to understand that $100 billion is a lot of money? You may think it’s a drop in the bucket, and yes it’s a single digit in terms of % of the budget, but it still is $109 billion.

Responding with “LOL” about spending $100 billion is exactly why Trump won.

Trump is claiming he is cutting the federal workforce to balance the budget, which is in the trillions. Saving $100B in a $1.8T budget is like cutting Netflix out of your personal budget. What would you say to a Millennial balancing their budget by cutting Netflix?

I would say, don't cut Netflix then congratulate yourself by taking on a $5000/month lease on a Lamborghini. Which is basically what's happening with the proposed tax cuts for the ultra wealthy.

Does tithing count as discretionary money? I wonder how churches will be affected.

I will hope against hope that this thread ages as well as the "The market is turning" thread on the real estate forum.

I feel sick that our family, our community and the American people could lose so much to get Republicans 1% closer to funding their tax cuts for the rich and 100% closer to screwing as many people over as possible.
