Did your T5 early admit apply to any more schools?

Of course not. Who would want to be friends with someone like this? The outraged people on this thread are either public school parents who don’t understand the culture at these small private schools or narcissists. I saw this play out at our Big3 a few years ago. Student got in SCEA and proceeded to apply and getting admitted to many other top schools (despite the school STRONGLY discouraging this) and then ended up attending the original SCEA admit. Completely screwed over their classmates by trophy hunting. This was not a family that needed financial aid packages.

I think the problem is the REA acceptance emboldens certain kids to then apply to the other 4. They are surprised they were accepted to one and now figure the others will want me too.

Ironically, if they were rejected REA, they are more likely to maybe apply to one other but probably not believe their odds are higher by applying to four more.

I think this is the definition of a person who has no moral compass whatsoever.

This seems like another venue for people to complain abut another student taking their kid's spot...so now the top student is taking your spot?

Not in my DC’s case. They had 10 RD apps including the rest of HYPSM completed and ready to submit had they not gotten into their early pick. After the admit, they submitted 2 apps and shelved the rest.

Exactly! As if it’s the top student’s fault if your kid can’t compete with them…

It's disappointing to not get an admission where you really want one, but to think that one specific student is taking another specific student's spot is pretty ridiculous.

Wait. What?!?!?

It is not crazy to apply REA to your second choice if there is not an REA bump at your top choice.

I could imagine applying REA to Caltech and then still applying to MIT or Stanford even if I get into Caltech.

No, it is obnoxious when you have the “golden ticket” in hand and are “seriously considering” trying to take one of your classmates’ golden tickets.

It's not their ticket. Most likely never was.
The notion that top schools have quotas for private schools is wild. They almost certainly don't GAF about your private school.

It's always a loner who doesn't give a crap about their peers. Such an interesting dynamic. I've seen it happen multiple times in the 3 times I've had seniors.

+2 It is the narcissistic kids, not the nice ones. It is strongly discouraged by our school, and if the kids insist the CCO will call the parents in for a meeting. These kids are horrible.

Or maybe your kids could have tried harder.

Nope, being one and done in December to the only school DD really wanted to go to meant no more apps. After the RD deadlines passed she did have a brief moment of “should I have applied to…“ but quickly got over it.

Moral compass?

Get a grip son.

A bunch of over-privileged private school kids complaining about life being unfair because someone better than them won't step aside to make room for them.

Thank you. The hypocrisy is real.

Wow! What's your DC's stats and hook?

What was the ending to this story? Did the Yale SCEA admit and Princeton SCEA admit both end up going to Harvard instead of choosing their SCEA schools? Or were they really just trying to trophy hunt?
