Honestly, the biggest takeaway I hope people get from this is that federal employees are gritty and committed—despite the narrative. We do a lot with a little, put up with enormous loads of BS, and handle ourselves pretty well.

I’m pretty sure that if the offer was 8 months severance paid up front, many people would take it.

A coworker is taking the fork. He was to have retired years ago but the COVID happened and was allowed to work remotely. So, he delayed his retirement. Now that he's been ordered to RTO, he is going to take the offer. Feds in this situation would be the first to take the deal.
