| As polling goes, the majority of Catholics voted for Trump. There are culturally conservative Catholics and theologically conservative Catholics. There's no shortage of Catholics who disagree with the liberal wing of the church. The tensions are pretty well known. Not sure why OP is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Is she saying people aren't allowed to criticize institutions, even ones they are part of? |
How many Catholics believe the reason the US Conference of Bishops operates Catholic Charities, and that Catholic Charities helps resettle refugees, is because the Catholic Church is eager to make money bringing illegal immigrants into the country? That’s not disagreeing with the policies of the Church, that’s slander. And if support for Catholic Charities’ work is now limited to the “liberal wing” of the Church then I think you’ve really lost the plot. |
First, Vance is a recent convert so he’s really not part of the church. Real Catholics don’t talk to clergy like that, even when they disagree with them. Second, taking care of migrants etc had been a massive budget buster for any charity dealing with this population in addition a huge stressor for already overburdened staff so suggesting that caring for migrants is a profit center is insulting and highly uninformed. |
So that's why he married a Hindu? |

At least they defrocked that POS priest Elon lover:

So, he's part of the Anglican Catholic Church which is not in communion with the Roman Catholic Church, which is the one in this thread. They don't defrock that quickly. |
What's the saying: the recent convert is the biggest zealot. |
So true! I am Catholic, and have been appalled at how much of a sycophant Dolan has been towards Trump + Vance up until Dolan having to deny Vance's claim that Catholic Charities was profitting from funds for helping refugees. |

Biden is the VERY DEFINITION of a cafeteria Catholic. |
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Fundamentally, it's about what you think is important in Catholic teaching. I bet we would have very different opinions on that, you and I. |
And believe me so are many of the men of the USCCB, just the conservative version. |
