Best to all... and those videos are fun to watch...

but.... Where do we find the Instagram account with all the videos of the kids who didn't get in?

I want to see the videos of OOS parents crying when kids get in and see tuition alone is $81K a year.

+1. For. A. State. School.

Happy to pay it!

Why do you think talented oos kids treat UVA as a backup? If you are going to pay private school tuition, go to a private school….
Most T30 private schools are $90K/yr.

LOOK IT UP on the Uva website, pull down under each school: the total cost of attendance for FIRST year engineering at UVA, OOS, isis 91-92k estim, 92-94k for years 2-4. UVA colleges of A&S is 81-82k first year OOS, 82-83 after that. We pay 84k all in for Engineering at an ivy in the T10. A&S students pay the same but typically do not have any book or computer fees so may be some less. No extra charge for years after first, no extra charge for taking an overload of classes.

UVA makes zero sense for an OOS student especially for engineering. Its a backup.

Where did you get this? Tuition is 55 k for OOS students which is cheaper than U Michigan I think.

What are you, nuts. It’s 60k tuition 1st and 2nd year and 63k 3rd and 4th.
Let’s call it 61.5k. And this is the College of Arts and Sciences.
Engineering is 71k oos…

Nobody is stopping them. Lot of other public schools have similar costs for OOS students.

Ha! You forgot to add room & board

I clearly said tuition. Also room and board is pretty much the same for instate and OOS students

Other state schools like North Carolina and UMD charge less tuition OOS plus they often give merit.

Making tuition almost 1/3 for OOS compared to UVA. UVA at almost 90k by senior year some majors is crazy for a state school for OOS might as well go Georgetown or NYU at that price

I heard that UMD rarely gives merit. Is that not true?

Good lord. We are full pay at an Ivy and that is what we pay. My kid did get in in-state to UVA, but I wouldn't pay that much for a large public.

Paid 55k for in state Engineering soph year because they charge for extra credit hours: one extra course a semester is around $1000. For double majoring and other goals it adds up. Then, the off campus housing"estimate" in the COA estimator is far off what the decent places charge...add another 5k extra for the year over the estimate for next year.
It is expensive for in-state yet kid does not get the benefit of the smaller classes that his friend gets at a T18 private engineering school

Tuition guy is like a broken record. I’m guessing you’re wealthy enough to pay it, but you make your kid feel guilty every time you pay.

I think tuition guy’s kid didn’t get in. OOS ED apps were up 15% over last year. Obviously not a backup for them.

UVA OOS fees are still wayyyyy lessexpensive than privates at &90k+

False statement. "Tuition alone" is $51k-$55.

Except that OOS engineering is EVEN more at UCLA, Cal, etc. and still less that my private which is now $96 for everyone.

Kids who want the UVA experience don't want urban schools. Why do people always do that?

My instater is at 47,000 so you definitely want to look at all that is included in your total OOS pricing

My in-state mid is $40k all in for College of Arts & Sciences (UVA's largest school). Great deal.
