What weird food habits do you have?

I like cottage cheese sprinkled with hot cocoa powder on top. It makes the cc sweet and chocolatey, but there’s also a certain crunch it gets with the cocoa powder sugar crystals that I really enjoy.

My food cannot touch on the plate. And I make that sound when the fork touches my teeth. That noise really bothers some people who are not well adjusted

Not letting food touch screams well adjusted

Kettle potato chips dipped/crunched into creamy tomato soup. But you have to eat them within seconds so they’re covered in the soup, but still crunchy.

Anonymous wrote:Not strange, but I hate cilantro. I also can't eat raw onions, garlic, celery or peppers. I throw up right away.
I can eat them in stews after they have been cooked, apart from peppers, not sure why but peppers I can't eat without huge issues. Such as throwing up.

That’s called an allergy.

I “lick the bowl” for ice cream.

I run my finger over the bowl and lick my finger, not lick the actual bowl.

Finger licken good

I was recently found to have gluten sensitivity, and I really dislike GF breads… so I now make my “sandwiches” using crackers or those puffed rice/buckwheat thingies. Still can’t live without something baked with a slice of cheese on it.

You might try white corn tortillas. When I had gluten problems for a while, they were the best bread substitute I found. Sometimes, I would also stack them in layers (lasagna style) with sauce, cheese, and toppings, and warm in the microwave to approximate a pizza. I had to eat it with a knife and fork, but it was close enough to satisfy that craving.

This is how I eat nacho cheese Doritos, ha.

My favorite way to eat chips & salsa is by mixing the salsa into cottage cheese. It's SO good. Trust me. I have converted nearly all my friends to this delicious snack.

My second weird food habit is something I call peperoni eggs. Cut a slice of sourdough bread in half & toast it, schmear one side with mayo, add a hard fried egg, slice of cheese, slice of sandwich pepperoni, and the top.

Reminds me of my friend who once said something like "I love bananas, but I hate how much they make your mouth burn after eating them." I was like "girl, you're allergic!" She got an allergy test and sure enough, she's allergic to bananas and also related foods like avocado and melon. She lived her whole life thinking those foods just caused a burning mouth after eating.

I make homemade croutons but never eat salads. I eat them like chips. Luckily not too many at a time. Nobody knows this.

I prefer all of my food to be mixed. Casseroles are my obvious favorite, but even on a normal dinner plate I will put a little bit of everything on my fork and eat it at once. I hate eating just one type of food at a time.

This is done in a lot of other cultures but people around me sometimes comment on it or clearly think it’s weird: I add a large scoop of Greek yogurt to many meals (rice + roasted veggies, or curries, chilis or soups, etc.) I’m a vegetarian and it helps get protein/fat into my meal (esp if it’s something like roasted veggies), and it’s also absolutely delicious with savory things. Some people like sour cream in soup but I think whole fat Greek yogurt is even better. I also put it into a lot of baked goods (pancakes, muffins) and think it’s fantastic for flavor/moisture.

this one is the only interesting response here. I'm going to have to give it a try.

?? The slang on this board is unbearable.

You haven't heard of "jonesing"? I'm old and it's been around for quite some time.
