Rutherford not hosing ASR - so who will step up

Crosspointe has a great space, ample wide streets, and an elementary school across the street.

Maybe Poplar Heights?

Kent Gardens is an interesting idea if they could use the McLean Little League grounds and it is a yards pool which would make things interesting from a records stand point! I like this idea!!!

Poplar Heights had a hard enough time hosting Divisionals due to parking. Yes there is a big grassy lot, but street parking is challenging.

Greenbriar did do a good job with Divisionals. They have a big lot and an elementary school across the street. Street parking was pretty good. Might not be enough room for team areas though, unless some of those are also at the school. Also pretty centrally located.

What happened? We had a B meet with them and they were lamenting having to move up, but they are really down to earth people. Maybe they just don’t fit in with the McLean elite? (Probably a good thing)

It is WELL KNOWN that both OKM and Crosspointe were lobbying the NVSL to move them both up

I don’t know who you are, but you could not be more wrong about OKM. Just stop making things up.

I really do think Chesterbrook could host- I'm not sure why they don't ever host the big meets. They have a fair amount of land- Chesterbrook elementary is across the street, St. Dunstan's episcopal is next door and another church on the other side- I would think all of these could be used for parking. I don't think either Overlee or Tuckahoe could host- they both have reasonable parking lots for the size pools- but not anywhere close to enough parking for a league wide meet. Neither of them have a school or similar community space nearby to allow parking, and neither of them are in neighborhoods with sufficient on street parking.

Absolutely FALSE. OKM knew at a certain point that they would have to move up but they did not want to at all. NVSL Boards wanted them to lose and kept pushing them up and they kept winning.

⬆️ This. In fact, after the OKM-CP dual meet, volunteers, reps, coaches, and officials were hanging out trying to make arguments about why the other team should go up. CP argued that OKM won the dual meet. One week later, OKM argued that CP beat OKM at ASRs.

You have to also remember: Other than Langley, all the D2 teams that year were on the Burke/Clifton/Fair Oaks/Fairfax Station side of town. I did not hear anyone from OKM or CP indicate that he/she was raring to move up to D1 for the 2024 season.

So that’s the story. This summer (2025), at least OKM has the lion’s share of their top swimmers moving to the top of the age group, so while OKM won’t beat the top 3, and maybe won’t win any meets in D1 once again, they may be a bit more competitive than in summer 2024.

Anyway, no, in 2023, it did not seem like CP or OKM desired to drive to N Arlington and McLean almost every week, as we were certain those teams would not want to drive all the way out to us. We were happy with our neighbors in D2.

Greenbriar has hosted ASR. They did a great job, but what about some of the other pools?

Love how not one single poster volunteered their own pool.
