+1 I’d prefer that DDOT work on making roads with schools on them safe before they give these rich people a private road paid for with public funds. |
| Reno/ 34th needs speed bumps! |
None of this has ever been about safety because increasing congestion and pushing traffic onto side streets does not make things safer. At least the canard about there not being increased traffic on the side streets can be put to rest. All of this has been caused by two blocks being closed off on a parallel street. |
It's a major emergency route for ambulances getting to Georgetown and GW. Speed bumps would be disastrous there (and speeding isn't a huge problem on Reno/34th because of the road design and the hilariously mistimed traffic lights). |
I am a DC resident. You don't own that street. Get over yourselves. |
They put speed bumps on a cul de sac off of Reno. Logic and common sense are not their strengths. |
Awww. Guess you’ll have to use one of the DOT-designated arterial roads in the near future when you cross the park. Military, Porter, etc. Davenport is an official Local Road that was never meant to serve as a cross town arterial due to its 13 ft width. Bye! |
What near future? DDOT isn’t going to close this street to through traffic. |
Maybe they're going to block off their own access? That sounds pretty stupid but these are the same people that believe that increasing congestion makes roads safer and does not increase cut through traffic. |

"It's difficult to get in and out of the driveways,” Dreyfuss said. “Parking is very limited."
Ring, ring, you’re not the only residents experiencing these issues. Take DDOT suggestion or hush up. I take this route daily and hardly ever seem anyone leaving their drive-way. As an aside, whats with the house with the private security? |
It was like that when the road was built, it was like that when the houses were built and it was like that when Dreyfuss and his neighbors bought their houses. Tough nuggies. |
No they aren't, and I live on Davenport Street and use it for my commute every day. |
Seriously! You bought a house with a difficult driveway, that doesn't mean you get to privatize a public road for yourself. |
How else are you supposed to get home if you live there? No one is talking about you in this post. |
The “neighbors” are not complaining about congestion. They are complaining about unsafe driving. Yet the rejected the traffic calming solutions put forth by DDOT. What the really want is to close the street to traffic, which yes, is privileged and deluded. |
