Microbiota in health and diseases
The role of microbiota in health and diseases is being highlighted by numerous studies since its discovery. Depending on the localized regions, microbiota can be classified into gut, oral, respiratory, and skin microbiota. The microbial communities are in symbiosis with the host, contributing to homeostasis and regulating immune function. However, microbiota dysbiosis can lead to dysregulation of bodily functions and diseases including cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), cancers, respiratory diseases, etc. In this review, we discuss the current knowledge of how microbiota links to host health or pathogenesis. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41392-022-00974-4 |
ALWAYS avoid diet stuff with fake sweeteners like sucralose, stevia, saccharin, etc. Try some mineral water or water with lemon and soda-water if you want bubbly without the calories or harmful fake sweeteners. |
I’m a big soda lover. I paid for the soda package on a cruise. I found that .. I won’t pay for it again.
I needed water so much more (thirsty from the heat), and there’s so much food, I felt full a lot. I’d rather pay for the occasional Coke or drink. Sounds like yours is already paid, you’re past the decision point. But you might find that you don’t want it. Juice or cocktails maybe a different story. It quenched my thirst like water as well. |

It might be a bit healthier to drink water than diet soda, but it's also healthier to eat plain oatmeal rather than have a slice of cake, but I don't survive on plain oatmeal and water. No food is "poison" and no food is a miracle cure. Eat a balanced, healthy diet, but don't forget about pleasure! |
Sorry meant to include the title of the link: "The case for diet soda: It gets a bad rap, but the research tells a different story" |
La Croix is not better than diet soda either. It's ingredient says: carbonated water and naturally essenced flavors derived from natural essence oils. But there's no way to know for certain exactly what's being used to create each flavor of LaCroix since the full ingredients aren't disclosed. it could be from spice, bark, leaf, seafood, fruit, meat, eggs. So, there are a lot of possibilities in what could be used to flavor the drinks. |
Not just bad for your health but, alcohol is a well-established risk factor for breast cancer. |
Everything is a risk factor in California. Glad I don't live there now! |
