Why a metallic blazer? Why can't a 55 year old have bare arms, like all the 35 year olds?

Omg chill out. Did you see the wedding is in March?!

This is OP and I want to thank you for all your suggestions and opinions -- especially those who went high when others went low.

To those who asked for more info on me: I have an hourglass figure, great legs and really good arms. So, yes, that's all lovely, but lace, sequins and patterns can be overwhelming on my figure and look matronly. The poster who said "God I hate being petite" probably gets it. That said, I'm going to try some of the suggested dresses and will also keep in mind the excellent advice from the poster who reminded me, "You have time for alterations. . . "

Finally, to the poster who suggested that any woman who would wear pants to a wedding is a lesbian -- bless your heart... and maybe try to get out more.

If OP was 22, would you have suggested a "metallic blazer" on that dress?

Agree with the posters who said the first one is really nice for petites (I'm 5'0"). Though some reviews indicated the waistline is really unforgiving.

I really like the first one - although I'd recommend the black. I'm 53 and went to an evening wedding recently. Every woman over 50 was in burgundy. I won't make that mistake again.

It's been the "it" color for a few months now.

Are you trolling? Serious question. Because these are horrible.

What is horrible about these for a 55 year old petite woman for an evening wedding in March? Show us what you suggest...

What is horrible? I will tell you:

The cuts are frumpy. The lace on the two with lace looks horribly cheap -- especially the one with the blue. You should pretty much always avoid lower-to-mid-priced jewel tone lace; it is always cheap looking. Likewise with the machine-done embroidery on that thing. I can also guarantee that blue dress is hard to fit, and probably scratchy feeling. Regarding the third one -- black and pink looks terrible on just about everyone, and that print looks cheap, especially in black and pink.

And I did give my suggestions. They are at 18:28 above.

NP. Every single suggestion in 18:28 looks super cheap. Maybe fine for a 20 year old, but not 55.

No they don't.

Noooo! Lulu’s is for teenagers. There has to be some middle ground between frump frock and cheapo homecoming dress.

Um... no one knows that a dress is from Lulu's when it's being worn. They have lots of great options.

DP. Disagree completely. My daughter ordered three dresses for prom from JJ's House and they were all so well-made and fit perfectly. She chose one and sent back the other two, but we were tempted to keep all three.

+1. I jumped a little seeing this. Don't wear anything that could possibly be construed as white or white-adjacent.
