No one over the age of 21 should shop at Lulu's. It's for teenage girls looking for prom dresses. The OP is in her 50s FFS!

Your rigid rules are pretty funny. Lulu's has lots of options for women of all ages. Here are two:

(not for OP's occasion, but examples of chic, ageless dresses)

They are both cheap and terrible looking. The second one is extra terrible for even a fit middle age body.

Because every petite woman needs a floral caftan?

Wow, I guess you can't read? From the above post : "not for OP's occasion, but examples of chic, ageless dresses." They were posted in response to the twit (you?) who huffily claimed that "no one over the age of 21 should shop at Lulu's. It's for teenage girls looking for prom dresses."

A floral sack is not chic or ageless.

Bless your heart.

Well if you want to show middle age tummy that’s your dress, I guess. But otherwise, no, I have yet to meet the 55 year old for whom that cut would be flattering.

A floral sack is not chic or ageless.

And yet, there are posters on this forum who will immediately suggest a kaftan for "women of a certain age."

This thread cracks me up. As usual, there is some know-it-all who thinks she - and only she - is the arbiter of what is appropriate. "Too young! Too old and frumpy! Too long! Too short!"
OP, if you're still around, best of luck finding a dress and have a great time. I'm outta here!

I absolutely love this dress. Now I just need the legs and an occasion to wear it!

I had a March wedding. It’s tough to dress for since the weather is iffy. On my wedding day, it was chilly, grey & rainy.

I’d avoid florals, they’re too summery.

Since it said cocktail attire, I would wear a knee-length solid dress with short sleeves or 3/4 sleeves in a fabric which is formal and not too flowy. Black or jewel-toned.

Ralph Lauren Black or Navy Off the Shoulder

If you wanted to wear a blouse and pants, something dressier, like taffeta:

These are all good suggestions

agree, I'm petite and florals are hard to wear, overwhelming on a small body. These suggestions are simple and would look good

The good news is that at the actual wedding, no will bat an eye at what any one guest is wearing.
