Fake story. No one things they are untouchable because of tenure unless, you know, they actually have tenure. Everyone knows that older workers often get the axe (PP is likely ageist from the sounds of it). |
Yea, it’s fake story. No one was hiring workers cheaper after COVID. Hiring only slowed down the in last few months, and even then only for high level jobs. |
Tech layoffs didn’t start until 2023, and you are talking about the tippy top of the market if talking FAANG salaries. |

Op - I was recruited by the hiring manager. Someone I once worked with who said the job is yours basically. What I do is super relevant to multiple of their corp roles. Ask yourself why it irks you that this is so. I think it’s bc you don’t want to rto either. If it makes you feel better, you can almost certainly find a job where you don’t have to also! Most people who don’t work in hands on fields do. |
Like any company there are growth areas and contraction areas |
Why would anyone do that. You sound like you are six years old |
Op - yes that’s my comp and it would need to double - which it won’t for these roles |
Well, this entire thread is about Amazon which is one of the A's in FAANG. |
This is very Amazon. |
This is normal at Amazon. You sound like you are 6 as you clearly don’t know the culture. There is a reason they give a four year contract and few make it past that. |
Amazon regularly forces people out. |
Are you Amazon? |
The discussion is about Amazon. Being contacted by a recruiter and being given an offer are two different things. |
That’s not how it works. |
