I had seen some roles there that are perrrfect for me but have not applied as no way am i doing 5 day a week rto.
I did hear rumblings they may be walking it back. Does anyone have any intel? |
In your shoes, I wouldn't even bother applying if you're not willing to do 5 day in office. Jassey has, unfortunately, taken away a lot of autonomy on this issue from Directors or VPs, so there's not really a way to negotiate on this point like there would have been in the past. I don't foresee a broad rollback of RTO 5, but it's possible he gives that discretion back to leaders to decide how they want to manage their teams. That's the hope for those of us there, but I wouldn't count on it and I think you wouldn't make it through hiring even asking about it. The direction from the top has been very clear even if it feels draconian to some of us, like me who only ever went in 3 days a week pre pandemic! |
| I just heard a report about it on the news today and it didn’t sound like Amazon is budging. People quit. People arguing that they were fired because RTO would require moving. People tried to organize and get Amazon to walk it back. But today is the first day of their 5 days a week in the office requirement. |
Don’t worry, you wouldn’t make it past the bar raiser. |

DD works there and is back 5 days. Not a huge issue for her due to short commute. She is assuming there is flexibility for illness etc. She is also not sure how long people will stay each day after badging n

| Amazon is NOT walking it back. If you don't want to come in 5 days a week, don't apply. Simple. |
| My husband tried to fight it but got nowhere so he is at the office today. |
| Amazon is bloated. RTO is an easy way to reduce headcount without layoffs |
| I work at Amazon. It is not being walked back. Full stop. |
There used to be frequent articles about the caustic work environment at Amazon before WFH. Wonder if that's about to come back as well. |
| They did give more time for people who live over 50 miles away and were attached to an office. They gave until September, which is great because hopefully my husband will find another job that pays as much by then. If not, he is prepared for 5 days a week. In other offices they delayed too because there weren’t enough desks for people. But I would not apply if you aren’t willing to go in 5 days a week. |
| Some offices had to delay due to space issues. |
| The way it's being implemented is a mess. I work at HQ2 in Crystal City and went in today. Office was pretty much empty (at least my floor). My team STILL has not received clear instructions from our manager regarding if you have to come in everyday 9-5. |
| I work in a customer facing role in AWS and I am not required to go back into office. |
| It is in full force today. Not enough desks... it sucks. |
