Oh. You must one of those annoying DC Justice Lab folks who went to all the DC city council meetings and would scream at anyone who wanted to voice support against allowing anyone with thousands of dollars in speeding tickets to renew their DC drivers license. Nice work. How do you feel about the three uber passengers and the driver who were killed on Rock Creek Parkway by the driver with $12k in speeding tickets? Must be interesting being in your head and attempting to perform that odd benefit cost analysis of having to weigh public safety with the economics of ward 7 and 8 residents. It’s clear you didn’t choose public safety. And all the other DC residents get to suffer as dangerous drivers can speed around and hit people with impunity. But then again you’re probably a promulgator of progressive criminal justice and that equation works for you. |
DP. I'm guessing they're either a sock puppet or a troll, actually. |
DP. Cheap cars are cheap. Everyone can afford a car. |

+1 all the walk signs on my route have a 4 blink head start. |
There was a story about DDOT trying to sell bike lanes in Michigan Park and the residents told them to GTFO. "How can you come into a Black and Brown, low-income community and tell us what we need?" https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/11/15/bike-lanes-road-safety-south-dakota-avenue/ |
How in the hell do you think people who live far away from their jobs, who don't have the luxury of working remotely, are getting to work? |
The bus. |
Said the white guy in Kalorama who took the bus that one time and it wasn't that bad! |
I'm sorry, I don't understand your point. Are you saying poor people don't ride the bus, or do ride the bus? |
Drivers were shocked by how many bus riders there were on GA ave in an earlier thread. They couldn't comprehend that half the road users were in a bus. |
No, no you really cannot. I am a 6'1" freak of nature lady and encountered a recent year (it looked brand-new) model F150 in the parking garage at Wegmans the other day. I walked straight up to the front end on it and literally the top of the front end where the hood is was just slight ABOVE my eye level. |
Seriously. Poor people may not be buying Teslas but they have cars. SMH |
Middle-class people unable to imagine that people might not have cars. |
Biking is even cheaper than the bus and, during rush hour, faster than driving or riding the bus. More people should bike. But I guess it’s hard for people living the poorest parts of the city to do so when the Ward 8 councilmember has effectively banned DDOT from building any bike lanes in his ward. |
