Deportation impact

Thank you. This thread is just gross. Not discounting ESL kids don’t cost money but these people are delusional if they think getting rid of them will fix public schools. What about the American kids with behavioral issues? And special ed kids once the DOE is no more? And the undermining of public education in favor of vouchers? You all are celebrating kids being deported, but you are ok with dismantling the DoE? Bibles in classrooms? “Patriotism” education? Getting rid of teachers’ unions and tenure (bc that will surely help the teacher shortage!)?

We'll see teenagers who aren't being parented, because their parents are gone, and thus an increase in gang activity.

Plus our economy will tank without a segment of the labor force, so there will be less money for schools and classroom ratios will go through the roof.

They can just take their kids with them. Wouldnt that make more sense than abandonment?

Most of the kids are US citizens, so it makes more sense for them to stay here than to return to a country they've never before seen. Except instead of having parents who are sometimes overwhelmed by working three jobs at the chicken plant, now these kids will have no parents and be left with neighbors and relatives. Even if your only metric is how this impacts schools, it's still bad because those kids are still here but they are just unparented.

I'm not the poster you quoted.

Why would that make more sense? US citizen children move to countries "they've never before seen" all the time when their parents move for jobs. Their parents are with them.

Is this the choice you’d make for your own kids if it meant moving them to a country where their life/safety was threatened? I’ve seen the lengths DCUM parents will go to just to give their kids a leg up on college admission or a travel team. You really have no clue what life is like for others and zero compassion.

Yeah, think about those pictures of parents handing babies away to try to get them to safety when Saigon fell or Kabul. Or the kindertransport. People will turn their kids over to CPS before taking them back to some of these countries.

The idea of raiding churches instead of raiding busienesses is so perverse. So Tyson chicken can continue to employe all the undocumented workers it needs, but if they dare leave their house to go to church or school, ICE may catch them. They should mandate e verify and catch all these employers that are employing undocumented workers illegally. Then punish the employers, not the people being exploited.

Are you compassionate enough to send your kids to the heavily impacted schools?

The bigger problem is that the world has an endless supply of poor people that would like to be here. We can't take them all. Better for those places to be start changing. I know, that is hard, but it is the only long term solution.

Yes, it’s so hypocritical that Trump wants to deport but refuses to crack down on employers who don’t verify legal residency ( and of course Trump employed many illegal residents himself).

I think Trump will deport the criminals who are here illegally but that will be it. Our economy would suffer big time without immigrants to do the jobs Americans won’t touch.

This is what I am hoping. Go after criminals. That is good for everyone. There is plenty to address there. If they are hardworking and care about community and this country, find a path to citizenship.

There is an entire political party that just won the election that completely disagrees with this.

Polls show that voters want all of them deported. No amnesty!

Schools will get better more money for the smaller population, estimates show about 30-40% of fcps is illegal immigrants or their offspring

Provide a source for this ridiculous estimate. I’m so tired of the BS the right spews.

This thread is gross. I'm all for deporting criminals but can't understand cheering for children to be deported to crime-ridden countries they don't even know.

No one is cheering for anything.

Most here illegally are economic migrants, not actually fleeing anything. That's just what they tell the authorities to trigger a years long bogus asylum claim to stay . El Salvador is now one of the safest countries.

Trump will just have Russian soldiers come gun us all down. He doesn’t have to care about what we want.

I would say that re doing the boundaries will be more beneficial for these schools and families but they claim they aren’t going to be looking at the equity when doing them.

The issue we have is this is very concentrated and it makes education very difficult this year.

I read in the Washington Post that Trump will deport criminals / felons. Not parents or kids. So Ann Coulter will be disappointed.

Nope. Criminals are already deported. Trump has promised massive deportation of people here illegally and possibly others (if Stephen Miller gets his way).

Look, who knows what he will actually do. But you need to understand , yes, the original mass deportation plan includes parents and kids/ families . If they are not here legally, the stated plan is deport them. There’s no magical amnesty for the people who are here working and paying taxes and living productive lives without documentation. The stated plan has them at risk .
