What do we tell our sons?

Anonymous
The same thing that I’m telling my teen daughters. The country has a lot of not smart people and they get to vote too. Do well in school, get a good job, marry well and stay above it all.

You tell your sons that every day in the United States three women are killed by an intimate partner.

That maternal mortality rates are among the highest in the world.

That in two thirds of U.S. states women and girls have little to no access to reproductive health care.

That if they are real alpha males, they should be protective of the troupe.

What did they tell them when Hillary Clinton was discussing bringing young men committing crimes in New York "to heel"?

What did they tell them when "Three Strikes" resulted in young men spending 25 years in prison when their third strike/ offense was stealing food?

I don't even know the last two. They hardly made the news and the third one I don't see related to the presidency.

On the first one OMG I heard about how awful Clinton was for that for a good 20 years from the Trumper in my family and how he brought down the morality of the white house. What I feel is different there is that Clinton wasn't talking openly about this to where you kept having to tell a child these werent beliefs to follow and it really was a setup by the right so the right with Ken Starr seemed just as slimy to me even as a young adult. And it happened in office not before and he was impeached because of it. So it wasn't like you had to say to a child he got away with this. There were consequences. With Trump people simply do not care about his misdeeds and write them off even before electing him. Just the other day I heard him talk about merging up with some potties after a speech. He just does it with abandon now and those same people who were after Clinton totally do not care now. Total hypocrites.

He is reading the room. People don't care because they are tired of having to filter through politics to understand what a politician is claiming they can offer.

Whatever. I totally lost respect for my republican family member after going on decades long tirade about Clinton's immorality only to ignore Trump's immorality and then later go off on Pelosi as evil only to find out that she didn't care one whit about how Pelosi only got her job after a decades long pedophile Dennis Hastert had to step down. How often do you hear about him disgracing the office? It turned me against any of her fake morality issues from then on. Now of course she thinks the democrats are the house of pedophiles despite Trump hanging with Epstein and believed that stupid Christian movie that came out on catching predators without looking up the truth on it all the while never speaking up about the ones of her political party or church. Hypocrites. It's just hating like hating a team. There is no actual morality behind these things. It's just evil actually and narcissistic trying to make others out to be evil who don't have the same labels as themselves. It's really just all about themselves. Not policy. Not morals. I tell my son some people want a label to make themselves look moral and American and make others look bad but its better to act moral and live by American values yourself.

You are right about some people just being hateful. But there is nothing you can do about those people. However there are others who are just fed up. And the proof of that is Obama's easy election. Romney was a moderate Republican and he still lost to Obama. Why is that? People want change.

There are fed up people who voted for Trump. You cannot pretend that everyone who voted for Trump likes the guy.

Fed up to me means they want more power. This is where Trump comes in to save them like an evangelical paster who tells people they are now saved for doing nothing. Many people like Trump just fine and just make up reasons why to like him and disregard the bad. What you are missing is that he is telling them they are winners just for having labels that you don't even have to live by. They like that they are part of a winning group according to Trump. They like that they feel they have power. This is all about wanting power. Not morality and not policy, but power. They like that there is someone else to blame for America's failing. I mean think about it. Even the slogan Make America Great Again kind of implies that Americans aren't doing as great a job as they could in America and abroad and that as citizens your first thought should be well what is my role in this? Share this blame. And then along comes Trump and he says you are doing great. There are these other people to blame for America's failings. You don't have to look inward at all.

Romney was from a fringe religion and Obama was a charismatic speaker and an incumbent and we were still in wars that people hoped we would get out of. People were still mad at Bush for getting us into them. If Romney had run against Joe Biden he might have won but he chose not to.

So you’re telling your kids that your view is the only smart one? Anyone that disagrees with you, it’s because they are just too stupid? I bet your kids see through that.

You tell your sons that these men in power say education isn't that important but they both went to ivy league schools so they are simply lying.

You tell your sons that these men say they are afraid of immigrants ruining the country but both married immigrants and that their families were immigrants at one time as well so again they are just lying for political gain. You tell them to respect all people and live a life of respect.

OP, what we need to tell our sons is to be more sensitive. Sensitive and caring, like Tim Walz.

Maybe stop saying that there are 72 million stupid people in the US. I was on some woman's lifestyle blog and she was going to fire her "housekeeper" for daring to vote for Trump. Who the heck has a housekeeper never mind telling them who to vote for or else.

It is you who is lying, PP.

Tell the truth. They did not say education isn’t important.

President Trump and VPOTUS Vance have rightly criticized the CURRENT state of the Ivy League institutions they attended.

For example: the arguably number one university in the U.S.A., Harvard, was led by President Gay, who:

- accumulated a pathetically scant eight published, peer-reviewed papers,
- her eight papers were on the dividing topic of “DIE” - diversity
- most of them were plagiarized
