Why move back if they’ll just be fired? Think they need a better plan

Shouldn’t we be job searching not house searching????

I’m fine RTO 5 days. Still think I’ll be fired anyway

I’d be willing to bet a paycheck that one of Trump’s first EOs is ordering the executive agencies back to the office at pre-pandemic levels. That’s an easy call.

I am ok with that as long as I have a job!

I'm fine with going back into the office, but how is that possible when we've let go of so much space? Our agency has one desk for every five people.

Bye to remote working... Hybrid the most!

I know. This was a new layer of disappointment this morning when I realized this. My family has benefitted so much from my being able to work remotely. I’m so sad we’re going to lose it. (And my agency will lose a bunch of my productivity as well.)

There are much bigger concerns of course, but this one blows.

I am also deeply disappointed by the results of the election and scared of what this portends.

That said, RTO is out of control. The fact that people is supervisory roles with oversight over budgets and people never or rarely go into the office is not good from a risk or development standpoint.

I just went into the office and interacted with ZERO people in person on work projects. ZERO. I did have a nice coworker lunch.

Do you all think noncontroversial independent agencies with small budgets are more safe? Have an offer outside the executive branch and am considering it.

So we will be sitting on the floor.? Ok if that is what you want.

Did a lot of agencies/offices give up space? Ours didn’t and we’ve had tons of empty space, being heated and air conditioned to the hilt, for years. A very small number of us come in 1x a week, otherwise it’s a ghost town.

Not what I want but I am SURE he doesn’t care.

Elon doesn’t understand the federal budget. The only way to reduce spending by 2 trillion is to cut Medicare and Social Security. Trump says he’ll protect both programs, raise defense spending and lower taxes. His proposals are estimated to cost something like 7 trillion. Is Elon finding 2 trillion on top of that 7?

The cost to cool buildings and supply water will go up with RTO. Not to mention money for transit subsidies. TW and reducing office space lowers federal spending. You’d think Trump would support remote work.

Part of the point of RTO could be cost saving and downsizing by having people quit and not filling the open positions.

Well I doubt they will get rid of BLS because most economic policy from the Fed is based on their data.

Project 2025 has them joining Census and BEA as part of Commerce.
