Is anyone sending in first quarter grades?

Let's be helpful. If you have a school to add, keep it going:

If a kid is applying in late Dec or into Jan / Feb and indicates “in progress” for first semester grades or first and second quarter grades (for quarter system schools), when grades should already be released and known, wouldn’t that be a huge red flag for admissions?

Only the semester grades are official, and in our case, won't be available for any RD application.

This. First semester goes through the end of January in our HS, and then grade reports take a week or so after. Even if DC is applying to schools with a Feb 15 deadline or later, they are aiming to have all apps in well before that and will not have semester grades yet.

Conn College asked for 1Q grades for ED last year.

Oxford (they wanted unweighted GPA as well)

Exactly. What schools would care unless T20. If a school cares about 1-2 B's, why would you send your kid there? Silly pressure for parents to brag

For the current juniors applying next year....

my kid sent 1st quarter grades to every school regardless whether they asked or not. They had most As with a couple A-. They have been accepted to every school applied, including UVA, who did not explicitly ask for it. I don't think this would work for ED but definitely EA.

I was nervous when my DC did this based on some of the responses here but it worked in our favor.

Or acceptances despite your actions.
