Been this way for a lifetime and just for fun, worked for the local health department for a decade.

Still didn’t eat a thing at the health department’s potlucks either.

We have monthly pot lucks. Usually just apps and desserts. Sometimes full meals. I avoid food brought my certain people. One is a nose picker. I've seen her pick her nose several times. And I just generally get the feeling she doesn't wash her hands. The other woman has long, unpainted natural finger nails that are filthy. I know she has chickens and goats and does a lot of gardening. I assume the dirt that is caked in her nails is full of Chicken and goat feces along with the soil. It just grosses me out.

The rice noodles. Rice is a common cause of food poisoning, if left too long at room temperature.

All of the above + bacteria, and lots of it. A Filipino would never even consider refrigerating pancit, maybe just put a fan nearby to shoo flies off of it. Likely prepped it on Saturday or Sunday, left it sitting out on the counter until Monday morning, and then served for lunch at the potluck.

Same with chicken adobo. I tossed some that was left out overnight (staying at someone’s house) and the cook was horrified. Apparently she always leaves it out like that (under the impression that the vinegar kills everything).

Not nationality bashing here: back in the day my Mayflower descended grandparents and their friends would leave a cooked beef roast out on the counter overnight. It was considered a normal thing to do. My grandmother always referred to the fridge as “the icebox” because when she was growing up it was actually an ice box that stored perishables.

Rice and beans are common causes of food poisoning. So many people don't realize that they should not be left sitting out.

I cannot believe she didn’t get fired. That’s almost a kind of assault.

How much did she bring in that 46 people all ate it?
