Worms. |
| Not buying this wasn't intentional. |
| Didn’t some kid die from eating pasta left out for a week? Probably the noodles. Yuck. |
|
Oh bummer.
I eat at neighborhood potlucks regularly and have never had food poisoning. I hope this does not create mass hysteria about potluck events. |
All of the above + bacteria, and lots of it. A Filipino would never even consider refrigerating pancit, maybe just put a fan nearby to shoo flies off of it. Likely prepped it on Saturday or Sunday, left it sitting out on the counter until Monday morning, and then served for lunch at the potluck. |
They got sick an hour after eating it, which means it was probably staph. It’s not the bacteria - bacteria transfer from unwashed hands or sneezes, then they multiply in the food if it’s held at unsafe temperatures and make a toxin that makes people sick. It’s not really dangerous compared to other foodborne illness. But I’m sure it was awful and dramatic. |
No more food ever. But even individual bags of pretzels. |
| I feel bad for the guy who wanted to do a nice thing for his co-workers. |
supposed to say NOT even individual bags of pretzels |
| Maybe this will put an end to the painful forced camaraderie of office potlucks. |
|
I have read this story before but nowhere it was mentioned the dish served or the nationality (or even sex) of the person who brought it.
How do you guys know it was pancit and it was from a Philippine man??? |
That’s what I’d like to know. I also don’t get how pan it would make someone sick. |
auto correct: pancit. |
It depends what was in it, but it could have been chicken or shrimp, or just that it was premade and sat on the counter. But my bet is on chicken or shrimp (if there was shrimp in it). |
| Poor person who got this. They’ll always be remembered as the one who poisoned everyone. But I guess this office will from now on order pizza for their events. |
