Fake violin player (grifter) is back

Anonymous
I watched a grown man and his son (according to the sign) beg for money at the Bethesda Farmers Market. I happened to be walking behind them when they folded the sign in half, put it under his arm walked through the market. A mercedes pulled over the female driver got out, the "homeless" man got in the drivers seat and drove off with the female and the child.

He does not play the violin and I’m sure his sign is a lie as well. So fake and so annoying!

Stop giving this faker money; it only encourages him to come back.

I've been giving him $20s just to spite you.

I can afford a few bucks and if a person needs the money enough to ask strangers on a corner all day then who am I to judge? I give a few dollars to anyone who asks. Doesn’t hurt me one bit.

You enable child abuse. I’m glad it doesn’t hurt you though.

If you suspect abuse then why are the cops not arresting the parents? Maybe you are just making assumptions and you don’t really know the details of a stranger that you won’t even talk to.

Would you give money to someone standing next to a speaker playing CDs at full volume? I wouldn't. This is no different - these people are not playing an instrument and sharing their music with the public, they are pretending, faking, scamming gullible passersby.

No one is giving these guys their last dollar. Why do you care?

They are panhandling in McLean thereby relieving people of their spare change. People give because they want to and what they’re giving is a drop in the bucket.

You don't think that keeping kids outside on the corner for HOURS in the heat and cold to panhandle is not abuse?! I don't need to talk to an abuser to know what I see is going on. Pffft.

It's not about the giver - it's about the taker and the grift. You obviously know nothing about organized crime and how this harms the actual ppl that you think you're helping with your dimes and quarters.

You sound lame af. Of course begging for money from strangers for hours is equivalent to recess. What a moron. How about you pay for the corner kid to be tucked in your amazing preschool and you can really be a savior.

Ha, is this the same guy who goes to the Tyson’s Whole Foods parking lot? I saw him over Christmas and was cracking up over how bad his “playing” was, he wasn’t even trying to sync with the music, just kept half-assedly moving the bow back and forth.

He had a 20-ish partner who went up to everyone in the parking lot saying “have you heard this guy play?! He’s amazing!! We should give him money!” I flat out said “you know he’s faking it, right?” Kid sheepishly said “yes” and scampered off.

Your kid could be busking on a street corner and saving for college. You seem like a loser parent.

This is an old BBC article, but it isstill true that it’s happening today. You are being obtuse about the situation or are acting as a troll with your opinion.

But sure, it’s the same as your outdoor preschool.
