Little daily luxuries

Evening baths with nicely scented bubble bath. My current favs are Lollia products.

Nice body lotions from brands like diptyque or Molton Brown.

My dog between grooming costs, vet costs, food and treats—it’s a fair bit of $$.

But worth every penny for that snuggly bit of happiness I get every day. A luxury well worth the cost.

I don’t think we ever used them prior to having kids, but I started making individual servings of jello or pudding in these glasses and the kids love it. I must admit it feels very fine dining to eat jello out of a crystal glass.

I love this - when I was a kid, I used my parents’ wine glasses to make jello layers. My dad still talks about how I used to make “fancy” desserts when I was a kid.

I sometimes have days where I am too tired or overwhelmed to take my daily morning shower 🚿 so having a nice-scented shower gel, body lotion + perfumed body mist are all good incentives to get me going!

That's how I feel about sandwiches. They're always better made by someone else; even if it's something a simple as a BLT.

I think that's about it! I'm pretty frugal and cheap otherwise.

Can you please share the brand? Thanks

Enough smartwool or darn tough socks to wear every day. I used to only have a couple pair and would look forward to the days they were clean.

Anonymous wrote:What are some things you consider minor little luxuries? Here are some of mine:

Lush bath products - I only recently began to partake and they have amazing lip scrubs and conditioners that feel like a small luxury

Expensive socks - Balega specifically for me

Chameleon cold brew - It is like $10 instead of $4 for cheaper brands but I buy it every week and love it for making protein coffee drinks daily

Good water bottles - I drink a lot more water if the water is ice cold

Why do people have to scrub their lips?

I'm gonna guess you don't use a washcloth either
you would be wrong.

Pure joy all the way around!

Penzeys fans here too 😀

Making a 3 cup pot of coffee in a French press and drinking it all day while I work.

Getting the "nice" hair gel (the Ouidad humidity one). I am generally a cheapo drugstore beauty product person, but my hair actually looks nice for multiple days now.

Orville Redenbacher popcorn kernels instead of grocery store brand. They pop up so much better on our weekend popcorn night.

OO flour for pizza.

OK? Like what?

DP Time. How you prioritize it. I take time to read. I take time to luxuriate in a fragrant hot bath. Sometimes I read while soaking in said fragrant hot bath. A few minutes of yoga or deep breathing help me to have a calmer, more resilient day. Sitting outside for a bit to enjoy the day. Getting a full 8-9 hours of sleep.

I could go on. You could point out that my taxes paid for the store bought library book, but you get the idea. Playing music in the background can hugely improve my mood. So can sitting on the floor and stretching, and reserving time to chat with a friend.

As a step up in “store bought “ : once I had practiced enough for knitting to be relaxing, I ended up with several luxurious (think alpaca yarn) handmade hats for myself and as gifts. The hats turned out to be a nice bonus from my chill times.

I try to sit outside for about 15 minutes a day, especially on sunny days, and watch the birds / nature. Feel more relaxed every time.

I wear merino wool socks everyday once it gets cool. Buy mine in a pack at Costco, but they last a long time so far!

ITA. My daily luxury is 20 minutes of "me time" - a hot cup of coffee, reading a book or surfing the web, between when the kids get on the bus and I have to start working.
