oh its coming next tryouts. Coaches seem to overlook how things are interconnected. Strong players that have carried teams that were overlooked take note of the politics and make adjustments down the road. Now that dust of movements have settled those little decisions have big ripples down the road once parents start talking. Parents that want whats best for their DCs will look to link w winning packages and throw their weight around come tryouts.

1000% things like this is like a rude awakening for parents who feel the coach will be fair and been loyal but overlooked

I'll read between the lines here. If you have a multiple offer kid, are you saying a parent can say, we will come to xyz instead of abc team if you recommend them to the regional camp?

What do you think happened at VDA?

The guys are all posting the full list, including first and last names on their instagram stories tonight. My kid is pissed I wont let him. Not his job to publicized other teens news, especially with full names and clubs

I think it is a huge invasion of privacy to the other players, they should block the other names and just highlight their own.

I agree. Our DS has no social media presence and we intentionally share very little outside of our circle about his soccer life.

Which goes back to how strange this is, US Soccer wants it under wraps, no public list, no parents at the session, no spectators at the session, yet all these clubs use it publicly as promo.

NP here. Our team got 3 invites (not saying which year or team), but the invites are odd because none of the 3 are in the upper tier of the team or among the strongest players of the team and none of them are consistent starters (2 aren't even starters at all and 1 just joined the team). I don't get it. I like the kids, and I am happy for them, but I could have picked at least 10 other kids on our team who are much stronger players and 5 of those 10 who are much, much better. Something is really off. And no, not sour grapes. But I do worry about how this will affect the team dynamics. It makes no sense, none.

I agree with you poster. The process seems subjective and affect team dynamics...and it's so early in the season that things can go south and negatively impact the team.

Lots of sensible questions here about the process, but people get upset when questions are asked about it.

Have watched VDA from the side line, VDA seems to have a strong network. They place a lot of players in DCU academy and USYNT talent IDs sessions year over year, than clubs that has a lot of strong players. If you DS is a baller w/goals to be picked up by academies and looked at by USYNT, VDA may be the place to be.

Yup, system is broken like that. Your kid could be a baller elsewhere but if they're not playing for the right club, you won't get past the gate.

If you haven't learned by now _ let me educate you. This is a political appointment at this age. Not a skilled one.

There aren't enough quality coaches as is in the ENTIRE country, so unfortunately there isn't a system where there are people that are UNBIASED in their decision making. Just how it is.

Anonymous wrote:Correct. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going on if you connect all the dots on movement and selections, we all know who the holds the keys around here. If your DC really cares that much about a social media post, go play for VDA.

Yep - BP is there now and he is the social media king of kings. Not coaching but social media.

Won't happen. The full list isn't privy to the public via some link, only those that have been invited have the full list of invites from the area.

Soccer Wire and USWNT website will post in a couple days.

And this is where the slippery slope begins. It may not be selection based on skill but if any of these players don't make it again, someone looks bad, and things are so tight knit that it doesn't happen often that other players are given the opportunity if they never got a chance initially. Around here particularly, its generally the same cycle of girls year after year.
