Do you wash your face with soap (of any type) twice a day? Once a day?

Every 3-year old has perfect skin, LOL.

I am fifty-five + have very oily skin.
Still.

I have to wash my face in the morning w/a face cleanser to wash off any impurities that my skin will accumulate overnight.

And I also cleanse my face every night to remove my makeup 💄, sunscreen, sweat, dirt & oil.

If I skip one of these cleansings - I typically break out w/a pimple or two.

2x/day I wash my face w/a facial cleanser, use an alcohol-free hydrating toner, apply a Vitamin C serum/facial moisturizer to my neck areas ONLY.

I also spot treat any blemishes and I never forget to apply a generous layer of eye cream as well.

Yes. I wear makeup and SPF during the day and at night I am doing retinols and other potions. I use a gentle cleanser.

My face is pretty much as oily as it's always been and I'm almost 60. If I don't wash it, it's too disgusting to live with. I used Basis or a clear glycerine soap, depending on what I have on hand or which sink I find myself at. I use a light powder as my only makeup.

Your skin is over-producing oil because it has become used to being stripped multiple times a day. Not sure what the solution is, but maybe cut down slowly.

You probably look young!

I use soap on an as needed basis. If I wore no makeup or sunscreen that day (often in the winter and especially when I'm just working from home) water with a little exfoliation from the washcloth is sufficient. If I wear makeup or other products that are going to sit on the skin if I don't wash them I use a bit of soap (Herbivore Botanicals pink clay soap) along with the washcloth to remove any build up.

I think ever using soap is weird because sometimes you need a bit of soap just to get off environmental residue (say after a day at the beach or going hiking or a very long hot day in the city). But I also think washing with soap twice a day is probably awful for a lot of people's skin. I have sensitive skin and definitely take a "less is more" approach -- I really try only to wash it when it is dirty and then use the least abrasive possible method in order to still get it clean.

I do, tbh, compared to a lot of people my age I know. Of course, extra fat also helps.

Having oily skin as a teenager/YA is hell because your face always looks greasy + dirty.
Kind of like a face full of sweat all the time.

However in middle-age and beyond it is the biggest blessing ever.

I am in my mid-50’s and my skin is moist and unlined.

I love not having to deal w/wrinkles and after a little bit of foundation, my skin actually looks glowy.
