| The ones that play for the love of the game were always the ones that got recruited. If your doing it just for a scholarship, you probably weren't going to play in college anyways. |
Not everyone who loves the game can afford the full cost of attendance. |
| The question is how much will these roster caps impact the changes of getting recruited (even for those who play because they love it)? |
| There are many players that get recruited and choose not to play in college (or choose to play club) despite their love of the game. 1 big reason is financial and another is academic. |
Everyone just get ahold of yourselves. The roster cap is set at 38. BC, UNC, NW and UMd all have rosters in the mid 30s. Only 4 I looked up, probably plenty more are similar. This applies to P5 schools only plus any schools that want to pay athletes directly like the Big East for hoops. But it isn't some big cut down. For most schools, there will be no roster limits because they won't pay athletes directly. Just the ability if they want it for unlimited scholarships (unlikely that schools load up on them, but maybe a bump for some). For P5 schools, Big East it'll be negligible. They'll still recruit 9-10 kids per year. Just go about your business. |

NCAA D1 eligibility:
Does anyone have guidance on when the NCAA free profile/D1 eligibility account should be set up? Does that need set up before Sept 1 and before an official visit? Any 2025 parents know. |
You will need it prior to any official visits. |
| WWill most official visits be on the first and second weekends in September? Will the athlete receive the offer during the official visit if it goes well? |
Maybe? Maybe? Every school is different. Notre Dame didn't do officials until their first home game (that wasn't during the dead period) which was around 9/16. Also, many schools won't do officials until you actually commit. Lax isn't a big budget sport so many coaches choose to only spend that money on girls they know will be attending the school. Your DD is just as likely to get an unofficial visit offer as an official. Maybe more likely to get an unofficial visit offer - don't read into it. Some schools/kids will give/get offers on visits while sometimes they'll get the offer a few days later. |
|
Also, some universities & high schools
don't start classes until after Labor Day, so 9/1 will come before their players are even back in class. That will be a quick turnaround for official visits. If the player has already been to several prospect camps at the school over the past two years, they would only need an official visit, correct? Is an unofficial and then official visit the norm with 2 visits after 9/1? Or is it usually just an official visit, and if it goes well, then the offer? |
Your kid is more likely to get an invite to visit in an unofficial capacity first. Many if not most schools do their official visits once the girls commit and will bring the entire group in together. Sometimes this will even be their senior year. Don't take offense to an unofficial visit invite as that could be what that school does. Every school is different so 10 schools may do things 10 different ways. Keep the net wide and take all calls. Don't blow anyone off and if she's lucky enough to get invited to multiple visits, great. Some may be official, some not. Some will make offers on the visit, some will not. BUT these are questions your daughter can ask on her calls. Don't ask "are you giving me an offer" but rather, "what's next in the process?" |

2025 parent. This ^ is correct. Unless you DD is a five star recruit, do no expect an official visit until after an offer, or whole class is committed.
Do take every call even if the school is not of interest as a call or email does not mean an offer will come. The end game may not look like anything you or your daughter expected. Open mind and open hearts is best. Also, don't expect a full ride or even 1/2 unless your DD is a top recruit from the school's perspective. |
In all cases I am familiar with (not all players but several) the process was contact made on 9/1 or after with unofficial visits made in fall of Junior year. If the school and player are both interested then a verbal offer is made and accepted or declined. Fall of Senior year an official visit is conducted with the players that have already made a verbal commitment but prior to the players signing the NLI. Nothing is official until the NLI is signed. The official visit just means that the school will pay for flight/hotel. |
