What are you doing to avoid Syphilis?

Ummm...condoms?? Isn't that the only way to prevent it outside of abstinence?

I just don’t have sex. Low libido has its benefits sometimes to be honest. But I don’t think it’s surging due to behaviour change; I think it’s surging due to anti microbial resistance and I find that more than a little scary to be honest.

I am a divorced man and I was shocked by the high number of women who were willing and ready to have unprotected sex. Ok maybe they trust me and expect me to put on a condom before penetration. Anyways I am always packing and ready to go when needed. At 47 I do not want to catch some weird STD...

Men are still responsible for many of the STDs spreading because they are more likely to be asymptomatic and less likely to be tested. Ask a woman the last time she was tested and she will gladly tell you. Ask a guy and look at his body language or response lol.

Being married and monogamous.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This article popped up and I remembered this thread—this is why syphilis is so bad.

Not just Colorado, South Dakota, New Mexico and Texas also have high rates in new borns.

Doesn't anyone teach newborns about celibacy?

2) I don't have sex unless the guy gets tested and shows me the results

3) I use condoms

4) I get STD testing every year at my physical.

I'm not a nun, so I figure I'm doing the best I can do.

As a guy if I bring up testing and show of results prior to engaging in sexual intimacy with a woman, the majority are aghast at me asking

It’s rare to run across a woman such as above

Are you older?

I don’t think pp is a real girl.

I’m not a PP but I’m a real woman and that’s my only approach. Men always get tested I bring it up if we had 3 dates and had a good make out session. I tell them it’s not for me but for their own health, too.
Majority show me the paperwork, about 1/3 bails out for good.

But yes, I’m in my 40s and this approach limits the number of partners to only those relationship-oriented. Which is totally fine by me!

Pp male poster here who has faced negative reactions when asking for testing prior to intimacy

Yeah that sounds about right from what I’ve heard and hence why I asked the pp who listed her steps/criteria

Older women are more ok with testing - 20s/30s set not so much

I was testing before sleeping with anyone in my 20s, too. Including my now exH. Because we were relationship oriented.

It’s the very negative selection of women that you have. Or they just see you as a casual hookup and speed with many men at the same time, why bother testing ?

You also need to ask if she’s vaccinated against HPV if you don’t want to get a throat cancer
