Pop Culture events are making the Olympics a joke

I am not surprised! I feel like I have heard way more about the Olympics from my kids this time around. I think tiktok has helped that

It really has. The memes that came out of this one (the Norwegian Muffin Man, the embarrassing Australian breakdancer, etc.) have really helped make the Olympics fun this year. Add in personalities like Snoop and commentators like Laurie Hernandez and suddenly people want to watch again.

The Olympics jumped the shark a while ago. They’re just desperately trying to stay relevant to the youth, who can’t be bothered to look up from their phones or video games.


Also, it's part of the "Everybody can be a winner" and "Everyone is equal" philosophy.

Everybody? Let's see your Olympic medal if it's so easy.

I detest sports and even I have enjoyed watching the Olympics this time!

I love the Australian breakdancer but I also don't really think breakdancing belongs in the Olympics. Not sure why I feel that way when skateboarding, snowboarding, gymnastics, ice skating, all the rest of it, are all great for me.

I watched so many sports and enjoyed all except for breakdancing, simply because it was very poor quality. I’ve seen better breakdancing by people on the street on a random day.

I am the PP and maybe that's it - in all the other sports, the excellence is breathtaking to behold. The breakdancing seemed sort of lackluster?
