Are you a beach person?

I’m ok with a deserted beach in cooler temperatures. Dislike summer beach vacations. Don’t get the appeal whatsoever, but to each their own.

See, I don't think they "have different preferences." I think they were not properly taught how to enjoy a beach vacation and don't have the fundamental core memories with family at the beach as a small child.

You're an idiot. I think you were not properly taught to reason and don't have the fundamental core understanding that different people like different things.

I like truly beautiful beaches and even then I don't know I could do more than a few hours daily. We mix it up so we can do other activities. The one exception is the Tulemar Costa Rica Pvt beach. For some reason it's one of my favorites!

Otherwise, we do Antigua, Flamenco in PR, Sugar Beach St Lucia, Kawaii, etc for us. I don't typically enjoy the Eastern Shore/OBX OC MD and OC NY beaches because just lying out with hundreds of people is not my thing. But we have done them when kids were really young.

I got engaged on Turks and a Bora Bora honeymoon so you would think I was quite the beach person! Lol

I’m a beach person for exactly three nights. Then I’m bored, bored, bored!

Do you have a good dermatologist?

No, this is just wrong. I grew up walking distance to the beach in Fl and we took a New England beach house trip annually as well as a Caribbean Islands trip annually. I actually do love the beach when it’s an amazing area for the ambience, seafood, atmosphere- Nantucket, Hawaii, Capri, etc.. but any old random beach town? no, definitely not. It’s not enough. I much prefer the mountains even without the atmosphere.

Can you be an ocean person, but not beach person?

I love sitting on a deck, in the shade. in clothes, not a swimsuit. watching the ocean.

But not ncessarily toes in the sand

no, I can not stand the sand everywhere... my privates, my shoes, and witgh the slightest wind it will be in your hair, your drink etc. bleck... I love resorts on the beach for the view, mood, but will always spend way more time at the resort pool.

Same. Seek out spots that have very few people. Could stay on the beach all day.

I love all beaches! Nice ones, eastern shore ones. European, Caribbean, etc. In the summer or the fall. But I have never gone to just the beach for a week because that does sound boring.

Do all of the people who find the beach boring not like to read? That's one of my favorite beach activities. Pick a good book and you won't be bored.

I also love to swim in the ocean, walk on the beach, and collect shells, so I very much enjoy the beach. I do like to be comfortable by sitting on a chair (not a towel) and under a tent for shade and sun protection, however.

Are some beaches better than others? Of course. Just like some mountains, lakes, towns, and cities are better than others (for me, understanding that others will have different preferences).

I do tend to agree that eating on the beach can often be a pain, and sometimes is more trouble than it's worth. Sand everywhere! On beach trips, I tend to spend a few hours at the beach in the morning, then leave to go elsewhere for lunch and get out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. Then back to the beach later in the afternoon. I would happily do this for a full week. Luckily my family enjoys it too.

I hate sand with every fiber of my being. And the thought of sitting there just cooking myself with grainy dirt all over me? No thanks.

I have fundamental core memories of our yearly beach week in my childhood. There are parts I love (boardwalk nights, crabs/seafood, amusement parks, etc.). I am also fine with laying out for hours in the sun. Not boring to me. I HATE sand. Maybe it’s a sensory aversion. I’m also just not excited about wearing a bathing suit on display in front of others. We are not all a size 2.

I am also am now the parent and I am now the one needing to pack all the sandwiches and drinks, schlep all the gear to/from the condo or house to the beach, rinse all the sand, apply sunscreen on wiggly kids and supervise impulsive children in and near the ocean. Not relaxing and a lot of work. Was much more fun when I was the kid!

So no, I’m not a beach person. But the beaches near here are particularly unpleasant. In other places, there are chairs and umbrellas set up, people bringing you cold drinks and snacks, shorter sand distance to walk, etc. I don’t mind crowds but there’s also that.

But it’s fine if you love the beach. You spend your week at Sea Colony. I’ll be in Europe somewhere, fully clothed. It’s really fine!

I am a total beach person. I envy people who can live at the beach all summer. Unfortunately, over time we realized my family are not beach people (they like the idea of it but get rashes too easily).

I married wrong

We need a separate thread for all beach lovers to come in…much more positive!
