Sweet like honey, karma is a cat purring in my lap 'cause it loves me. |
The bad people I know already got theirs and that's why they are bad. Serious abuse or dysfunction involved. Few other ones have been special needs and didn't know why they did or said things they did. I just decided to stay away as that's all I can control. |
It evens out on a cosmic time scale. We’re just souls in these temporary bodies. It may not go around in this body’s life. |
Karma as it is used in casual modern Western discussion is not the same as the original religious concept. |
I think there are really few "bad people." I wouldn't wish karma on anyone because OP, I'm sure that you've hurt a number of people in your life. Sometimes unintentionally, sometimes intentionally. That's how everyone is. True evil is pretty rare. |
DP here. I do think some people are inherently evil. Their deeds might be a million of what other people might call "small" deeds, to different people, but they can still be evil. (ie: their deeds do not have to be mass genocide). Agree with other PP that mental illness or abusive situations are what cause evil people to do what they do - but it is not an excuse for them to not want to get better, or try, or do better, or be a better person. They may simply be too stupid to know that whatever they do comes back around - hard. |
How naive. There are drug cartel and gang bosses, mass torturers and murderers living the high life who will never get caught. There are child and spouse abusers and workplace bullies who are respected by their communities. You never know people's dark secrets, even if to the world they project a squeaky clean personality. And it's evident that even if you blow 25,000 innocent humans, most of them women and children, to bits in an open air prison, you STILL get the friendship, UN vote and deadly weaponry of the US on your side. You can fight for justice, but do not expect it, in this life or the next. |
Thank you for injecting some common sense in this dumb post. It's kind of galling that the poster doesn't realize what a bad person they are for thinking they get to judge other people and at the same time hoping for some type of retribution that allows her to keep her hands clean. Op is a bad person. I have a neighbor who would tell everyone in the world that I am a bad person. She has actively been doing this for years even though she does not know me. I go my own way and kind of keep to myself in my neighborhood but have always been kind and nice to my neighbors. I am kind and helpful but prefer not to be part of "the group". This neighbor hates the fact that I go my own way and am not dependent upon her. I suspect she is an alcoholic, her husband stole money from a charter school that served disabled kids and she is always starting something with someone. She works very hard at appearing to be a good person. Who is the good person here. |
If Hitler were alive today and moved to the suburbs, if he was charming enough, most neighbors would love him and trash anyone who "held a grudge". |
While I am one who doesn't believe in karma, your situation kind of reinforces the idea. It could be your karmic benefit that her badmouthing/disliking you gives you distance from her and her toxic crew. How lovely is that? Why consort with bitter trash if you can stay clean while merely paying the toll of being persona non grata and enduring gossip among their ranks (of which you are happily disconnected). Being neighbors could have put you in peril of associating with them, building connections and eventually wishing you had never given them the time of day because you got in legal issues or some alcohol induced incident or defrauded. |
Then it's not falsifying religious belief if people are superstitious and think bad things happening to good people is something they deserved. |
I don't believe that, have seen too many awful people with charmed lives who get everything and wonderful people with the most difficult lives and bad luck. |
Definitely not. Look at Trump. Putin. Cutthroat dishonest executives who make tens of millions a year doing unscrupulous things.
This combined with child abuse and childhood cancer are why I don’t think I can really believe in God. |
Duh. We're not discussing the Eastern concept of karma. In case you still don't get it. |
+1 The longer I live, the more I see how putting out good energy brings good energy and vice versa. |
