FTR: it’s the same fabric/material. Or if it’s another material, it’s usually not machine washable and doesn’t hold up well.

Strong disagree. The cheap ones look cheap.

?

If a dress retails for $180+ at Nordstrom but you can get the exact same dress (same brand/same print) at TJ Max or Nordstrom Rack for $40, what’s the difference?

There is no difference. It’s the same flipping dress.

Or do you think the $300 or $400 dress is better quality? Disagree. They tend to fall apart, actually.

No, they don’t. I’ve owned many of the expensive ones. Why would they “fall apart”? The ones linked at the rack are made for the rack, never sold at the actual Nordstrom store for full price. That’s not how most of the merchandise at the budget stores is acquired. It’s made for those places: they get limited inventory from the actual main store. But it’s not this stuff. This stuff is basically Francesca’s. Yes, lines like ulla Johnson and oliphant are more expensive but often you get what you pay for.

Jujst a heads up for others looking, I ordered 3 dresses from Oliphant last summer and they basically fell to shreds within a few wears. I was VERY disappointed with the quality. The one that had embroidery was a mess of loose threads and I had to toss after maybe 3 wears? Their customer service was also non-existant. They would not take the items back and they never posted my negative review (normal I guess, but annoying). I love their style, but everything was so cheaply made I will never order again. -I swear they buy these things for like 4 dollars in India and mark them up insanely.

I just posted about the Quince one. It's not the same fabric/material. I wish it was, because it looks pretty and is half the price. The Anthro one is much nicer and has held up well (I have two of them).

Max studio is total crap, come on. You’d be better off at Zara.

+1

It’s crazy to spend hundreds on a flimsy dress that will fall apart.

My Max dresses have held up for years and are machine washable.

Their short summer dresses are awesome beach cover ups.

Yes, but they are not cute or fashionable.
Sorry. They look cheap. It is what it is. Wear them as beach cover ups but they’re not a choice for a fancy dress for a special vacation. That’s all I’m saying.

Huh, I’ve had several for years. I buy maybe one a year so I have around 5. They all look great. I do dry clean.
