Now what for Thu/Fri…snow day?

lol as if MCPS cares at all about the chronic absenteeism that exists for normal school

If it’s virtual on Friday but the teacher is scheduled to be out, how does that work? I don’t think subs have laptops/set up to teach virtually. Do they add the kids to another teacher’s online classroom?

No virtual will happen. Anyone who keeps saying there will be living in sort of fever dream.

There is no plan approval from the state.

Not enough chromebooks and chargers.
Not enough hot spots.
Teachers need at least a day notice.
No expects anything happen so the virtual. It’s basically a check-in every 30 minutes for MS and HS after a 2hr delay schedule.

Virtual learning Friday.

Heat on DCUM is not going to affect the decision tomorrow. If it is this icy tomorrow morning, they will delay at a minimum.

Friday- closed.

This is a good plan. As long as they have a lunch period, it counts as a day!

I teach at a private and have had virtual school yesterday and today. It’s a total waste of time.

There will absolutely be a delay tomorrow because of ongoing ice issues- it's cold today. You can't go from closing for the day entirely to open on time when the problem is still there.

No they won't. They don't care about absences (since they will all be excused). Virtual counts as an instructional day...no matter what.

Are PPs incorrect that they can only pivot to virtual with a state-approved plan?

Praise Allah - a normal poster!!
These are freaking KIDS. Let them have snow days. It’s not that deep, people.

Your comment is striking, since it is likely that enough snow days cause the removal of Eid as a day off.

Oh, are we now making snide comments about other people's religion?

Maybe the PP doesn't care about Eid being a day off. I invoke my favorite deity sometimes, but it doesn't mean I care about Easter falling on a vacation day.

Moron.

Doesn't use up a snow day, though.

It's looking like the snow will start on Friday.

There will not be an early release on Thursday, and since the sidewalks and side roads will be cleared today, there won't be a delayed opening either.

Friday... we'll see. We're expecting 1-3 inches, but that can change. Stay tuned.

The referenced comment itself was snide. While it’s unknown what that poster’s religion is, it’s highly doubtful they invoked the deity in such a way if they are Muslim. That poster was trolling Islam

Oh gosh I hope so- my street is still icy though. And not everyone has cleared their sidewalks, grr.

Why? People say Thank God all the time. Your assumption is discriminatory.

PP you replied to. My side street is super icy too, but walking about I notice it's one of the last holdouts, so... for the greater good, it seems logical to have a full day tomorrow. I'm assuming local governments, residents and businesses, aided by the sun, will make a lot of more headway on the clearing today.
