Now what for Thu/Fri…snow day?

Why aren't HSers having virtual learning?

In the several years my kids have been in mcps I have noticed a trend. At first, they throw out snow days easy. As they use more-their threshold goes up. So then on days when a closure would actually be the right decision they stop doing it and it’s either a delay or nothing. I think delay on Friday.

There is no virtual learning. We are never going back to that. Get it through your heads.

We were briefed about Code Purple at the last staff meeting. It is very much a possibility. Time for you to accept that.

Don’t believe it

Will they be able to finish clearing the snow/ice from Monday's storm today? I'm actually kind of doubtful. Maybe they can borrow some equipment/staff from neighboring districts that were able to do it yesterday?

Lol you don't have to, but it doesn't make it any less true. Reality seems very difficult for you.

Look up the MSDE guidelines as well as every other county's plans. Virtual can be used for inclement weather. It is no big deal.

ugh please no virtual. what a waste of time at least for the ES. Maybe it makes sense for HS but please no.

Hopefully. I like having my kids home. We are enjoying the break.

They will stop doing virtual when they see that nobody actually participates.

Very true. Could be as simple as scrambling to find people to plow and shovel on the first days, then having them on speed dial the other days.
It's not like we get this every year. First time in two years, the people who plow and shovel don't always stay in the area or keep the same job from year to year.
Our elementary had the same crew for year, but the main person is getting old and has probably left by now. Middle and high schools need a lot more people, since they have larger areas to clear.

No they won't. They don't care about absences (since they will all be excused). Virtual counts as an instructional day...no matter what.

Praise Allah - a normal poster!!
These are freaking KIDS. Let them have snow days. It’s not that deep, people.

Your comment is striking, since it is likely that enough snow days cause the removal of Eid as a day off.

The kids haven’t had a proper snow day in years it seems. This time there’s an actual good amount of snow on the ground. Some of the roads here look truly bad, so this time, I think it’s an okay decision. Maybe mcps should rethink the redundant and pointless tests they do every month or two.
