I feel quite safe predicting that for this cycle Harvard will have an admit rate in low to mid single digits and a yield over 80%. |
MIT’s Admissions Dean had a completely fake resume including multiple fake degrees, she was there for decades. |
PP you replied to. Ha ha, I have no ties to Harvard or any other Ivy institution. But as a member of an international family, with nieces and nephews who are considering US colleges, I can GUARANTEE that your little provincial disputes about the comparative worth of Harvard vs other Ivies and top tier colleges means NOTHING. The majority of the world still views Ivies exactly as before. You people have a case of being too close to the problem. Every little Ivy travail that most of the world ignores is blown up to huge proportions in your eyes. You are just so gleeful when anything remotely negative happens to an Ivy. It's so obvious to others who don't have a dog in this fight that it's a case of deep envy. If your kid was offered a spot, most of you would jump at it. I stand by what I said. |
| NP I saw the story about Harvard Gay scandal on the TV news in France. It was hardly a little tiny story the world ignores. |
The Harvard brand is super old and much larger than any individual. If you think firing a President who has been there less than a year because she may have copied work will dilute the brand, good luck with that. |
Yeah no. I am from Asia and after the affirmative action fiasco and now this people are definitely reconsidering Harvard. There are plenty of other prestigious universities. |
Check out Penn |
Interesting use of the Midwestern yeah no there. There are plenty of other prestigious universities and there will still be folks applying to Harvard from every other corner of the world. Heck, it's a little bit like real estate. Harvard has a nice location and it's clear, especially in this generation, that youth like schools in nice locations. |
I assure you that Jewish students are shying away from Harvard. |
It's not quite that. I'm a Harvard alum. I was unhappy with her selection and did not go or watch the inauguration. When I heard of it and studied it it was clear she was unqualified and a weakling put in place because of her skin color AND her area of study (DEI) in which her research is NOT IMPRESSIVE. (I am personal friends with black members of the board). I am sick of DEI taking over our universities. She was never qualified either from academic standing or LEADERSHIP standing - she had NEVER been the head of a university like Harvard. Yet the board/Harvard Corporation pushed her on us. All in the name of DEI. I was disgusted with this back in July when her appointment was announced; disgusted at the inauguration; disgusted when she was absent when the first pro-Palestinian protest occurred. She has been, in my mind, utterly useless and irresponsible as a Harvard President. We all saw this coming, but not the plagiarism. I knew her work was incredibly weak but the Harvard Corporation (yes I have associates on it) NEEDED to have her president for obvious reasons and went forward. Read up on her background. There is no racism here. She was always a bad candidate for Harvard, and any other institution for that matter. |
She's done a great service. Gay should have stayed. Don't say she was a mediocre scholar who never belong in the same league as Harvard. Her record as a #1 cheater is absolutely fitting for one of the most corrupt institutions in the world. |
I think the previous PP is one of those political posters. How many times did they include "DEI?" Definitely trying to wage a negative image campaign there. So tired of people using this board to advance a political agenda. |
Just stop. The DEI push is an issue for many of us who are nonpolitical and one that needs to be discussed. Just dismissing it is ignorant. It's not going away. It has entrapped our nation's institutions. READ AND LEARN before you say such nonsense. This is a critical time in our nation's universities. And read up on how the chinese and russians imposed indoctrination on eras of young people. Germans too. It's casebook communisim or similar. To say otherwise is to say you don'tknow world history |
“I’m not political but DEI is exactly like Mao’s Cultural Revolution” Sure thing buddy, make sure to preserve your precious bodily fluids. |
Not sure why you are defending one of the most corrupt institutions in the world. Its anti-Asian, antisemitic... and I don't know what else. Gay was in the right place. She's a mediocre scholar. She cheated her way to the top. She fits in perfectly as a figurehead of an emperor with no clothes on. |
