The Queen mostly wore vivid colors. Kate also wears lots of bright colors.

Exactly. Colors can be so powerful and elegant, it really isn't about neutrals vs colors. It's about shapes and textures.

You people are not the Queen of Spain.

Good clear, radiant skin with very minimal makeup.

Groomed - subtly shaped brows, well kept hair, clean shiny nails, etc.

Well fitting, fresh clothes, no piling and no tired looking material.

So far I have 1 and am working on the rest.

I also think the more weight you look like you have, the more groomed and fitted and no sloppy you need to look. Overweight women always need to look groomed and polished and “done” to look well off. Thin women can pull off jeans and a baggy sweatshirt and still look well off.

This doesn’t apply to men.

It is very difficult to avoid looking sloppy when overweight. Very, very difficult. Nothing fits properly, and there just aren't a lot of choices available clothing-wise.

I'm wealthy and have the look. The secret is to:
1. BE THIN

2. Pair very expensive things with cheap things - i.e. my $400 shoes with a well fitted dress from Target I got for sale $15 and tailored.
3. Subtle REAL jewelry, e.g., diamond studs- never cz
4. Always dress for your figure. Never wear 'sweat pants'. Aviator Nation make folks look like they're wearing a giant diaper, so I don't get why people would pay money to look that way

But mostly be thin and fit!

This is dumb advice. Absolutely no one can tell if your earrings are CZ. I have CZ set in real gold (sensitive skin) and they are cheap and look great. For a ring you can argue for diamonds for durability but for earrings no one can tell.

CZ looks whitish in certain light and has less brilliance, which I can spot from across the room. But if you can't tell- go for it.

...and your point is????

People can look up to the Queen of Spain's sense of fashion, right? I think she looks great and I'm only queen of my own home. I also like other famous folks' fashion choices without being famous myself.

You can look good it's just costly. You need to buy each article 2 sizes bigger than your size and get it tailored to fit you exactly. Oprah did this when she was at her largest.... well, her wardrobe folks did it for her.

You absolutely can’t spot it from across a room. The fact that you think you can just makes you gullible.

I disagree, it’s still really difficult. And the press was cruel to Oprah about how she looked overweight so that’s a poor example.

In my opinion the press was hard are her because she was an overweight black woman. I thought she was gorgeous. Still is.

She was plain and overweight and didn't have a style team as good as she has now. She looks gorgeous now.

The Queen wore vivid colors to be seen and stand out in a crowd when doing public engagements. When you see pics of her in a relaxed setting, she was wearing much more neutral, soft colors.

Almost no actual wealthy people I know wear all neutral colors, that's for the poors who can't afford to buy additional clothing and have to purchase neutral clothing to afford quality.

I'm going to guess you don't know any UC people, otherwise you wouldn't use language like the bolded. No UC people use that phrase; it's crass.

A good personal tailor is indispensable.

Most people who are overweight (myself included) fluctuate a lot, so tailoring is only so useful. Tailoring, like everything else about clothing, works best for very slim people.

You must not read a lot around here. It's a phrase used to get a reaction from posters. No one actually says it.
