"Boring" topics you wish more people would geek out about with you

I want to talk about the trees and plants that we see around us. The kinds of stones and soil. The geography. The climate. The biodiversity.

And the history of the place. I want to know everything about the places I see. Also the political history and human migration.

I have had so many long convos about these!

Instead of a book club I’d love to watch these and discuss.

This is weird but think a lot about the series “Man in the High Castle” and Kate Atkinson‘s book “Life After Life”. With the former, I think about what life would be like if the US had lost World War II. With Atkinson’s book I think about how small things can change the trajectory of our lives. I could talk about time jumping/time travel until I lost my voice LOL. I don’t know anyone else like this. I’m a 51 year old married woman

I am a Russian speaker and I am on a number of Russian language groups and they have a thing for mushrooms. They never give away their secret places. They curse the government for requiring a permit to forage for mushrooms in certain areas.
They discuss if Costco mushrooms taste exactly like home or not.
It’s a culture of its own, I tell ya!

I love watching Andrew Millison (sp?) videos on YouTube on permaculture or anything to do with environmental solutions.

Here is a favorite one of mine that has inspired me in many ways.

I am Russian so I would really enjoy discussing The Americans even if I am not that knowledgeable.
I think they captured the Soviet details really well (though I was 14 when the USSR collapsed).
I really enjoyed that show and how they didn’t just engage in Russia hating.

I've read lots of books and seen TV shows and movies but it's rare to find anyone who actually wants to talk about it.

My dad wants to know if there was a secret addendum to the Molotov Ribbentrop pact

Certain TV shows and series:
- Frasier
- The Wire
- Babylon Berlin
- The Americans

Also not PC topics, like whether it’s good or bad that we made progress on curing infertility, if gay surrogate parenting should be legal, alternative views on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, etc etc

Archeology, ancient cultures, human migration patterns, I could talk about ancient history all day.
