MIT president answered differently and she is not getting hunted down about this. She didn't say that calls for Jewish genocide was context dependent. There is a difference between hate speech and calls for genocide and MIT president recognized that. Magill and Gay did not. |
No, had Ackman not kept pressure on, then Magill and Gay would be safe and status quo would continue. Calls for genocide for any ethnic group is not protected under the first amendment. They selectively have allowed some groups to be protected and others not. They both should go. Magill is out. One down. |
Probably Duke, Emory |
The only reason Gay still has a job, imo, is because Summers is protecting her. Pressure needs to be put on Summers. |
Probably more than ever! So many people proud of these schools for the excellent way they have handled free speech on a very tough subject! Go MIT PENN HARVARD!!!! |
+1 Agree. Read Amman’s letter and he was right why fund these endowments if Jewish kids can’t be safe at the school |
*Akman’s |
Autocorrect is killing me Ackman geez |
You obviously don't understand what free speech actually means. You should read the definition then listen to what was said. Calls for genocide of an ethnic group is not protected speech. Saying you hate an ethnic group is protected. Telling people to kill them is not. |
There won’t be fewer applicants but the quality of the applicants will go down. |
Yes. Christian here. The way Jewish kids are treated on these campuses is abhorrent.
I think a lot will go to the state flagships. We prefer to hire students from state flagships. |

Some things never change. |
Oh yeah, which one did you attend? |
I’m not the PP and not Jewish but I went to HYS and I agree with the sentiment. A kid wearing a yarmulke risks physical harm on many of the elite colleges now. A kid wearing a keffiyeh, even one that had no idea what sea the phrase is talking about, will get high fives and probably easier grading. It’s loathsome. |
