EXACTLY! We own a Bentley and my DH wears the drivers' cap when taking it to shows. He looks very handsome in it. Much more so than golf caps.

Aren’t drivers caps and golf caps the same?

of course not. how could you read this thread and think that?

It’s what Wikipedia said?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_cap

“A flat cap is a rounded cap with a small stiff brim in front, originating in Northern England. The hat is also known in Ireland as a paddy cap; in Scotland as a bunnet; in Wales as a Dai cap; and in the United States as an English cap or Irish cap. Various other terms exist (cabbie cap, driver cap, golf cap,[1] longshoreman cap, ivy cap, train engineer cap, etc.). Flat caps are usually made of tweed, plain wool, or cotton, while some are made using leather, linen, or corduroy. The inside of the cap is commonly lined for comfort and warmth.[2]”

Can you post a picture of what you think a golf cap is?

There is no reasoning with someone who thinks that hat is ok.

I don’t know. Middle aged men wearing baseball caps scream try hard

In what universe? Baseball caps are practical. This hat is practical. I’ve been proactively fighting a combover for a solid decade. If a cap helps DH resist the urge to grow a security blanket, I’m all for it.

I’m English. This hat is normal for me but I can see how Americans would find it odd.

OP, you are an idiot. look up the definition: The flat cap goes by many other names as well – Ivy cap, Gatsby, driving cap, sixpence, duckbill, and paddy to name a few.

The men in our antique car driving club ALL wear them. and they look grand in them

far better than when same DH wears a golf cap

+ 1.

A flat cap and an accent and he can pass himself off as an internationally renowned equestrian coach.

How very on brand for people posting in the fashion thread who have zero sense of fashion.

Your attitudes are why everyone thinks American men can’t dress.

My DH has a hat like that that we bought in England. It looks great on him, though he’s not overweight.

I’ve never seen it on an old man in the past thirty years. See plenty of baseball caps on old men though.

I think this pretentious buffoon thinks a golf cap is the same as a baseball cap.

My sexy and sthletic built 50yo DH and only wears hats functionally to keep his head warm or protected in the sun.

In winter he wears a Peaky Blinders style hat. DH is tall, bald and black so it looks very different on him. He likes Kangol brand and buys one every few years. He thinks they look more dressy and “adult” with his winter coats. He wears a beanie when he is casual and going to work out. He only wears a baseball cap in summer in the sun.

Like a “Titlest” baseball cap?

They must be talking about golf visors:
