Have been following for tangible steps about what we can actually do, and it seems like the only suggestion is vote George out. Is there really nothing else we can do? Should we be writing to people? To whom? Is it really a minority of constituents that want these criminals caught and stopped?

Not even close to true, but you keep pushing those talking points. What's your agenda?

I’m sure you could reach out to Lisa Gore’s campaign and ask how to help. I doubt it’s a minority of constituents that want something done on crime but JLG had the advantage of running in 2020 during the BLM/abolish the police trend and she capitalized on it. Plus her opponent was kind of a dud, but even so, the race was somewhat close. She could certainly be defeated by a strong candidate now that people are turning against her approach to crime.

Not PP, but ridding the Council of pro-criminal advocates is a great agenda.

I can't tell the difference between Gore and Lewis George from their campaign info. Seems like they both take a similar approach.

So is PG County racist?

We simply cannot live with the carjackings, property crimes, shootings, and chaos with no consequences for the perpetrators.

Who in local politics can make this happen?

Doing what you propose in your subject line would result in many more African-American males behind bars.

And that is racist.

Full stop. Never gonna happen.

DC crime will get much, much worse before it gets better.

So prosecution of criminals is racist?
Fools !ike you are the problem.

Why I hate this argument as a person of color— it assumes Black people will inevitably commit crimes. Ergo, Blacks are criminals. That is more racist than enforcing laws against criminals, whatever their race may be.

Get rid of Charles Allen too. He talks a good game, but sees too much nuance on the crime issue. He is allergic to taking action to protect constituents. Vote him out.

I find it interesting that the police were able to track down and arrest the teen who carjacked the FBI agent. Charged as an adult and held without bail.

So they can do it. Why don't they do that when us normal people get carjacked?

The elected AG is responsible for all juvenile justice and delinquency proceedings.

Are we happy with the status quo? Is “kids are kids” acceptable?

The Council created a Deputy Auditor for Public Safety. Is he happy with the status quo? Is everything operating as it should? If not, what changes has he recommended?

He doesn't even talk a good game. 100% agree that he has got to go. He is doing nothing except BS "safety walks" to protect his Ward from a tidal wave of crime.

So either pick between more African-American males in prison or high crime, wow

When the prisons are full, crime goes down.

There is no political desire to lower crime in DC. It is going to get a lot worse. Keep your fingers crossed you and your loved ones are not a victims. (You already are a victim every month paying significantly higher car insurance than you would elsewhere, eating more expensive food due to many restaurants paying 40k per month for security, etc)

Your post is dumb. Of course their is political desire to lower crime. If you think insurance is high here, move to GA or FL. I put a lot of blame on the Mayor. The police chief thinks that praying will lower crime. I don't see her advocating at the WH and Congress to get judges appointed and help solve the issue with the US Attorney.

The Mayor and the Chief were literally on Capitol Hill yesterday.

Np. Just guessing but maybe PP’s agenda could be - a lower crime rate?
