Please share your ideas for SOLUTIONS to the middle east crisis

Why is it the only option? A one state democracy can't be a Jewish state because Palestinians will equal or outnumber them. A one state solution without full democracy is Apartheid. Therefore the two state solution is all that is left.

Neither Netanyahu nor Hamas believes in it. We were making progress with the Oslo Accords and its opponents ruined it. Right wingers assassinated Yitzak Rabin and then they deliberately weakened Arafat and Fatah. Netanyahu liked Hamas because nobody could force him to negotiate with Hamas.

This.

End thread.

Right to return. Treat property rights the same way we treat property stolen during WWII. Israel brags about being a democracy, take them up on it- one person one vote

I asked before, what does the right to return mean? Who does it apply to?

In order to achieve peace, the right of return for Palestinians to return to their original pre 1948 properties (tax free of course) along with full political, social and civil rights must be guaranteed.

Refugees registered by the UN. Fortunately lots of families kept their deeds, so recovering the houses they were forced out of should be easy

Turn the West Bank into the Palestinian State and Israel so that all land and people are contiguous. Voila! Live in peace and harmony. Everyone has to sacrifice, everyone has to move, everyone takes care of themselves.

Or as my husband said, now I only have to become the PM!

Two contiguous states is probably the right way to go. They would need to partition Jerusalem, too.

Jordan is pretty good at keeping a lid on the extremist elements.

So who gets the rights, the families who where there pre-1948? Or the ones who have been there the last 5, 10, or 20 years?

A two state solution seems to make sense, but many believe that is not viable. Can someone explain why?

My take: Both have a legitimate claim to the area but neither seems to want to give that up to the other side. Israel probably has a better shot of administering the region as a one-state solution than to continue on a contentious path. They need to integrate the Arab Palestinians, give them right to return, give them citizenship, focus on housing and a robust economy. But part of it would also need to be that those returning agree to reject the extremism that gave rise to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. There also needs to be a broader regional effort, to get the Palestinians, some of whom have been stateless since 1948, integrated into society where they exist - Jordan, Egypt, etc. With similar clauses of renouncing extremism.

The Arab and Christian Paletinians outnumber the Jews so the "Jewish State" would end at the first legitimate election.

Except they don't. They might in two generations but they don't right now.

It’s basically unconditional citizenship and reparations for Palestinian refugees and their descendants. Palestinians insist on it for any kind of peace plan.

How do you propose to eliminate Hamas without harming innocent Palestinian people?

You can't. All you can do is try to minimize the harm and hope that once Hamas is eliminated future generations of Palestinians won't have to live this way.

Look at a map and the try to find any other political subdivision let alone nation with as little geographic continuity as the West Bank (this is ignoring Gaza all together). It’s hard to pretend it’s a country when you have to cross multiple foreign borders to travel from one city to the next.

Also, two states has never really been on the table. Even the negotiations under Clinton never offered a real state to Palestinians at least in the sense that a state controls their own borders and airspace has a right to set their own foreign policy and a right to defend their borders

This is a sure fire way to get all the Jews there murdered.

Two state solution, assuming the Palestinians can keep extremism in check.
