Every country has done wrong. That's immaterial. We can't just say that Palestine, alone, gets a pass from war when they commit terror attacks. As they say, don't start nothing and there won't be nothing.

The media and politicos used to convince us that Israel is the only democracy in the ME. So obviously not true anymore. Mass killing and bombing do not rhyme with democracy.

A successful rally should not be “pro-Israel” maybe a march for the hostages???

A march to release hostages and end the war?
Would that be a pro Israel march?

I do not think Israel’s government cares about the hostages or would not be privately upset if they were killed(friendly fire or by Hamas). Israel see it a propaganda points.

Pure projection. It is Hamas who doesn't care about civilians and wants them all dead for the purpose of propaganda.

You do you. I am marching in support of Israel.

What kind of support are you marching for?
Do you want Israel to bomb Gaza more?
That they will accomplish without your march, or do you want more positive news coverage for them?

I’m not the PP you’re responding to, but I’m going so I’ll answer too. I’m supporting Israel’s right to exist, I’m supporting Israeli victims of Hamas’s attack and I’m supporting an end to this war which includes Hamas surrender and return of hostages.

+ a million
I am also supporting the millions of Palestinians who have been under the boot of Hamas.
And, Israel's efforts to counter Hamas' propaganda that far too many people around the world have fallen for.

I also think it's important for American Jews to feel like it's safe to leave the house.

That is a nice ideal, truth is that the war has become collective punishment

Good excuse for when you can't get much of a turnout...

So it’s more a statement kind of march and not the petitioning of any govt? Ok. I was just unclear what people were looking for. The pro-Palestinian protest wanted to change the behavior of both the US and ideally Israeli governments.

I think if the pro-Israel march is to petition Hamas, you might as well stay home. They are not listening and are probably getting a kick out of upsetting you.

It’s not to petition Hamas! How many times do we have to say this?! That would obviously be completely pointless

Again, most protests are to petition against a policy of some governing authority. This one seems to be more of a celebration of Israel, which is fine obviously. I was just wondering if I had missed what the ask was.

I don't really understand why Israel is losing the war of minds/hearts. The message seems pretty simple to me: Israel deserves to exist in peace. One could argue about tactics and strategies etc but that core message seems simple and should resonate. Why is this so hard? Why can't people rally behind that? The only people who object would be those who find the existence of Israel to be abhorrent but if they actually say that, how is that now showing their own inhumanity?

Good questions. I think that so many people just flat out hate Israel and Jews. It’s a hatred that borders on mental illness, seemingly.

Have a look at the Gaza war thread and you’ll see what people think. It is really depressing and if you suggest there that people hate Israel and Jews then you’ll get a long reply about victim mentality and the chosen people looking down on others, etc. It makes me want to leave the internet forever, but I also can’t look away.

You really don’t get it? I mean you REALLY don’t? “One could argue about tactics”? Seriously?? 10 thousand people including 4 thousand children bombed and unable to flee is not a genocide to you? I’m neither Israeli nor Palestinian but I can see for myself how one sided this is and I’m glad others are calling out atrocities when they see it.

DP. I don't think you understand the words you are using. Genocide has a specific meaning. We saw plenty of civilians killed in the most recent US conflicts. It's not going to phase Americans who are familiar with collateral damage.

I know what a genocide is, and calling justified, collateral damage or whatever else helps you sleep at night does not change the fact that this is a textbook definition of genocide. If it doesn’t phase you, then it you should really think about why the deaths of some are worthy of mourning but not others.

My point is, I don't think people need to argue on public about whether people hate Jews. That gets others defensive. Just stay with the message that Israel is a state and deserves to exist in peace. Like those who want to argue for the destruction of Israel dig their own graves as they try to explain why and go down the anti-Semitic rabbit hole.
