No, it's not. Gaza, now that is an awful place.

You sound like an interesting and compassionate person.

Palestinians in Gaza threw gay people off roofs. Think about that long and hard.

Anyone who vacations in Dubai should be ashamed of themselves.

Wow. Just searched Dubai and found this thread.

I think we are going on a similar winter break trip! We had to change our plans to stop in Dubai (instead of Oman) before Serengeti and gorilla trekking.

Jewish family here. It sounds like war in Middle East expected to continue for months to come. No one expects (1) UAE to become involved or (2) terrorist attacks in UAE, do they?

I feel like it should be ok?

It is fine. I live in the ME. Just don’t say anything pro Israel and you will be fine. I don’t take sides. If asked I just say how sad the whole situation is and the loss of innocent life is a tragedy. If not asked, I say nothing. In transit or in a resort, there is no risk. The vast majority of people you will encounter are just humans working to make a living and they don’t want conflict anymore than you do.

This. Five nights?? Good lord, why that long? I have family in Dubai and have been there many times. It’s miserable.

I think you will be safe in Dubai, but if you're concerned cut it short. I can't imagine what you'd find to do for 5 days in Dubai.

do you think thay they shouldn't be allowed to leave their home countries when they are invited to work in dubai?

Who are these people, what type of work are you talking about and what countries are they coming and going from?

Why don’t you read some serious news reports and watch some documentaries. The laborers have their passports taken from them, they work 21 hours a day in 120 degree weather, their living conditions are horrific and the lucky ones are paid for their work.

Dubai is a trashy playground for trashy adults.

To the person who asks if I am outraged by conditions in other countries, yes and no. I've been living and working on these sorts of conditions most of my professional life, so you do become inurred.
The documetaries may be true, but again ,I think you have to have a wider perspective on the entirety of the world and working life and oppotunities to put this in perspective

I lived in Dubai for almost 10 years. Many friends still there. I would not hesitate at all to visit on the way to SA. December is a very festive month. It's a very safe country. Just stay on the right side of the law! Adhere to local customs in public areas. You will find plenty to do for 5 days.

Don't listen to the ranters on this thread.

Clearly you have never been there to make such an ignorant comment. Dubai has so much to do and see that 5 days wouldn’t be enough.

Agree. The anti-Dubai posters are trolls with an anti-Arab and islamophobic agenda. We went to Dubai a few months ago and loved it. Extremely safe, delicious food, friendly people, amazing sights, shopping, desert safaris, beaches, etc… It’s a fantastic place!

Opposition to slavery is Islamophobia?

Just down break down near a township. Also- you do know that they drive on the other side of the road, right?
