I mean how can you forget the $2.17 gas a gallon and my investments doubling in 4 years. I can't forget that and won't.

No. Free. Lunch.

My heirs do.

Lucky heirs.

1) I bought quality housewares early on so there are genuinely fewer things I actually need

2) I cut cable and land line years ago and only have one streaming service, bought a $28K car new in 2017 and paid it off in 3 years so no car payment; I really don’t need any more clothes.

3) I use buy nothing group a lot to give and receive

4) I do a modified version where I only shop on sale.

I have money but no heirs.

It was a free lunch.

It's already that way. People see their bank accounts now verses then. It's not rocket science.

Never Mind the 1%. Mini-Millionaires Are Where Wealth Is Growing Fastest.
Many people in the upper middle class are now millionaires thanks to college, savings, bull markets and timing

It's almost a shame that Trump didn't win the last election. He wouldn't have been able to do a thing about the rising cost of living. It was a worldwide problem.

He wouldn't be on the pedestal that many people have put him on.

But most importantly, thanks to inflation.

It needs to go down. That's why the fed keeps on raising interest rates, to try to slow the economy.

I'm with you OP. I've done some spending reduction.and only buying food and a few things we need, but am really cutting back on Christmas this year.

The increased prices don't seem to be passed down to the service / retail / other workers, so I'm getting disgusted with all the price increases.

The oy way prices are coming down is if we stop buying stuff that many of us can't really afford anyway.

That's funny. I believe you really think that too.

I am with OP. Sick of feeling ripped off every time I go to restaurant - small portions, expectations of 35 percent tip including tax, indifferent or hostile service. Screw it.

Hotels adding all sorts of BS fees and airplanes packed full. TSA lines that take an hour. Plus, most places sort of suck anyway. Poor countries where everyone is expecting a handout or bribe and rich ones where the service is crap.

I’d rather read a library book at home.

I applaud you OP and am with you. I'm an immigrant and know how not to spend money anyway. It's harder now that I'm married to an American and have a child as my spouse has no idea how to save and invest in general. I have to constantly put breaks on spending in our household. We don't go out to eat much, only on special occasions ( like maybe 5 times a year), we never order any take outs. We do splurge on travel 1-2 a year ( we love travelling). We never buy any coffee and drive older cars. We have enough money to retire, but still keep going because our child is still in school and heading soon to college.

We could use a recession right about now. Maybe that will stop companies from thinking they can raise prices another 5-10% next year.

So weird that companies only became greedy when Joe Biden took office. One would have thought that these diabolical profit machines would have thought of jacking up prices earlier.

So you would rather have millions lose jobs then have gas go from $4/gallon to $4.40/gallon? Ok

Logical mind

+1 I don’t get it either??

Believe me, I am also fed up with prices and wish I could cut back on everything, but with two teens the expenses just keep racking up. We did make a few cuts to household expenses to offset BS price increases

I have two teens, too. Sooo expensive. I could eat cereal for dinner and be happy, but they can eat the equivalent of two full meals in one sitting.
